Y’know, I’d never heard of pigs in a blanket until I moved to the US and as for English muffins!

just got back from a holiday in the States. Me and the wife got a bit homesick after about a week and decided to have a meal (and a few drinks) in an Irish pub.
Wifey spots Shepherds Pie on the menu but gets a bit confused when 'biscuit' is mentioned in the ingredients.
Waiter has to explain that it has a pastry base with savoury mince and mashed potatoes on top.
"I'll have the lamb stew thanks" she replied!
Biscuit in a shepherds pie....biscuit???

Surely the unemployed would jump at the chance at making pigs in blankets to bring home the bacon ??

Dunno where you were but in New England a biscuit usually refers to a small light highly absorbent bread roll. It’s a name / description that has remained in use around here even as biscuits became more varied in style and production. Biscuits and gravy was a common meal for the lower orders back in the day.

Wouldn't be Christmas without a shortage or two!

BTW I can exclusively reveal that the 'big get away' before Christmas will officially be the 'worst ever ever ever'

Oh yeah and it might snow and it might not

There we go - that's your annual Christmas news all done and dusted!
