Interesting video from Sam Chui. Been watching his aviation videos for a few years.

I wish them luck getting over the jetlag. Heading east is the hardest to do. I just arrived in Sydney from London last night having tried to get my body clock the same by sleeping at certain times and eating similarly. I only got a few hours sleep this night and its just on 5am here now. I am rather sceptical at these so-called methods to overcome the jetlag and how do you get a full flight to do all the exercises, sleep, eat, etc? Every person has their own body clock problems.

Not sure I'd want to be in one plane for 19 hours, let alone the 17 from London to Perth. However, the fact that there is no stop could be an important part in overcoming the jetlag problem.

Take Melatonin tablets 20 mins before you want to sleep.

I've always suffered with lack of sleep after long haul flights. Got chatting to a Cathay cabin crew member a few months back, she said crew always take this to get sleep.

Bought some packs in Boots over the counter in BKK.

Only available on prescription in UK though

It did work!!!

Thanks. Took one on the flight and refuse to take more than one every 24 hours. Will take one tonight. It is strange that these are OTC in the US and most of Asia and yet you need a prescription in the UK and similarly in Oz. Whenever I go through Singapore I grab some extra at the chemist. The lady there told me to let it dissolve under the tongue which is a rather strange way to do it.

When I went over for the Ashes a couple of years ago,we arrived in Perth around lunchtime. After being dropped at the hotel I went straight in for a swim in the pool, and then a few beers with a group of us until about 10pm.A normal nights sleep meant that I didn’t suffer any jet lag at all.
The return journey from Sydney via Abu Dhabi arrived early in the morning and was a bit more of a problem, but it wasn’t that bad really.I managed to stay awake for most of the day and that possibly helped.
It’s just the boredom of being stuck on a plane for so long that Would be the problem I guess.

I had to fly to Sydney with my last employer 5-6 times a year, never longer than a week. A well-heeled lady in business class saw I was having trouble sleeping one flight and gave me a tablet.

I don't know what was in it but I slept through from Dubai to Sydney where the crew had to shake me awake and the left side of my face was numb for 48hrs after.

They do say Jizz has anesthetic properties, especially taken orally.

All i`m saying is don`t take unknown drugs from unknown sources in far off places, or you may well just wake up feeling a little numb.

Well, in Business Class (business trips) I can sleep OK as the seat becomes a flat bed. But Cattle Class (pleasure trips), I just am unable to sleep at all. Uncomfortable, noisy and just not pleasant on long haul flights. Must be nice to have plenty of cash and fly Business Class always.

The only time I've slept on a plane (including going to Suid Afrika) was on a Cyprus Air jet when the hostess filled my glass with whiskey from a big bottle twice and as it was evening i nodded off.

They probably don't pour freely now though.

I can never sleep either, just too uncomfortable. The one time I managed it, on the red-eye back from New York I missed breakfast which aggrieves me to this day.
