Pretty good performance overall - Ball and Kane caught the eye and we looked good in the shape first half.

Shitty marking for the goal cost us the half time lead.

Started well second half but Fulham changed their system and started to get in behind our wing backs. Thought Warberton should of changed it then as the dynamics of the game started to swing back to Fulham.

Wells was tiring and binging Chair on at that stage would of made sense and perhaps change to a 4,4,1,1 for ten minutes to gain back the momentum would of made sense.

Unfortunately Lumley then provided the opposition another assist and we never really looked like getting back into it despite a good five minutes at the end.

Scowen for Amos was a head scratcher - Amos had a good ten minutes before coming off and looked like he was starting to influence the game.

Overall still a glass half full performance.

Yes, watching it again against a very expensive Fulham team you do think if we could somehow stem the goals we could still be a force this season. I think MW missed a trick not bringing on BOS because if he had put him roaming down the middle he would have killed both Fulham CBs for pace.

Pace is what we lack at the moment.

Never knowingly right.

I thought Ball had a very good game. I'd have himnin that position ahead of Cameron all day.

Watching the game last night, I thought that we were clearly better against Fulham than we had been against Middlesbrough, even with a few regulars missing through injury / suspension.

Their first goal came, initially, from losing a 1v1 tackle in the middle third. They had definitely been told to target our left back slot (it was a consistent feature of the first half) and when Odoi got through Manning he exploited the space left behind. The marking in the centre was shoddy, both Hall and Leistner marking space.

The second was precipitated by some weapons-grade fcukwittery in the preceding couple of minutes. We were obviously preparing substitutes and rather than take the opportunity to leather the ball upfield, we tried to play out from rightback, play out through the middle and eventually give Lumley the chance to win the 2019 Rob Green Award for Services to Kicking. I get that MW wants the team to be confident on the ball and be able to trust themselves to play out from the back etc but there are times and places. Maldini wasn't averse to going long under pressure. Beckenbauer could hoof it when necessary. On this occasion, we got it wrong - it will happen - but I think we have to accept times like this if we are to progress.

I think the fact that we played well and looked cohesive is why we all feel such frustration about not at least getting a point. Putting things in perspective- our team is built on a shoestring and fulham has cost an awful amount of money and promotion should be expected.

I thought Amos, ball and Kane made an enormous difference. Ball can be limited but is decent on the ball gets about and is aggressive. Can’t ask for much more from Rotherham reserves. Kane really impressed me early on in the season but seemed to lack confidence recently and suddenly couldn’t trap a bag of cement. Last night was positive and done well. Another free transfer. Amos, I think could be class If he gets a run of games and actually believes in himself. They have to start ahead of Rangel and Cameron who I felt looked well passed it against brentford. The energy and bite of Amos and ball really unsettled fulham.

Basic marking yet again cost us for the first. Players need to take responsibility especially with the experience they have. It was so predictable. We need centre halves massively.

Unfortunately lumley has again cost us points. He was having a really solid game until that game so feel sorry for him. Warburton can take the blame, and he should! It’s ok saying he’s the one that says to go short but it’s very clear that lumley is extremely uncomfortable with the ball at his feet and sometimes it needs to go.

Forwards did well. Thought eze needed more protection from the ref who seemed to give the home side everything but I’m very biased!

Overall, actually proud of how the boys did. Disappointed not to get more and they are a team I’m happy to support. We need to remember that these days most games in the championship we are the underdogs.

Agree but teams seem to have twigged that if they push players up and press him then eventually they'll overwhelm him and we lose the midfield. That's not Ball's fault but something we need to address.

That's where we need to be smart and by pass him and go longer.

Good thread. Agree with the consensus.

I haven't enjoyed the last two games but I think that's due to frustration at us being close to two wins but throwing them away with individual errors. I should lighten up.
