Really enjoyed this. Unsurprisingly he comes across as a ground and intelligent lad, who is just enjoying his football. Love for him to stay next season and build a team around him, but we all know that's not happening. Enjoy it while it lasts.

yeah, if you can ignore Finney talking about Northern Ireland and the Napoleonic Wars, Eze comes across really really well. No obvious delusions or trappings of fame, comes across as a properly decent lad...

Can we not knock it?

Great to hear him say he dislikes waiting too long for kick off - he must be loving his football.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

What a nice bloke he is.

The constant winding him up about leaving/not leaving in January didn’t sit that well with me, it’s not his fault we’re fked financially and he’s playing at a better standard than mid-table Championship.

I honestly skipped straight to the interview and stopped after, although there was the obligatory eye roll at Finney asking if he had Northern Irish parents.

i find the obsession some fans have about him leaving really odd, just enjoy him whilst he is here and if he goes good luck to him

I've had a really good chat with my parents about it and we've agreed that for now I should just be focusing on my club football and doing the best I can there without rushing into any decisions about international football while I'm still young. I just th-I KNOW WHAT YOU SHOULD DO, YOU SHOULD PLAY FOR NORTHERN IRELAND.

I really wish they had asked him about his previous development, and why it seemed for a long period like he didn't fit in anywhere.

Ya, good point.

I would have liked to hear more about our coaching and how Furlong, Hall, Impey and others have developed him, also maybe more about our tactics under Warburton.

To be fair, the questions came from supporters, and we did learn that he's a lovely and grounded man. So I did enjoy it. But I still think that when three people interview one they sometimes forget that the supporters are only interested in hearing one voice, not four.

Poll: Player of the Year (so far)

Seems like a very level headed lad to me. Things that stood out as maybe important - another mention for Paul Hall as part of his development. I think sometimes he goes a bit under the radar when it comes to praise for development of our players. Also the impact of Kelly and Wallace in the dressing room.

He's spoken before (I think it was a Sky interview) about why he didn't fit in at Millwall and how he was asked to play in a style that didn't play to his strengths. He feels much happier at QPR where we generally try to play less direct football. I think they said he was released from Fulham before his Millwall days. because he was considered too small at the time. He was asked about whether he was really planning to work in Tescos after being let go by Millwall and he said he did think about it but he backed himself really to make it in football even if he had to go to lower leagues.

Clinton Morrison and Don't Goodman raving about Eze on Sky. They said he's got everything, great special awareness, close control, eye for a pass. Really special talent who can go to the next level.

They think we're all shouting at the TV about them bigging him up but we all know we're on borrowed time with him. But aren't we lucky to enjoy him now?

Thanks for that Nix.

I had the feeling listening to the Paul Hall interview on the Loftcast that there was something more to it than that i.e. Eze was too much of a maverick to easily fit in anywhere and clubs just couldn't look past that and see his unique talent.

You can totally understand why clubs would have been baffled by him, and why a duffer like McLaren had no real idea what do with him. What I love about Eze is that he doesn't even really fit the usual "maverick" Number 10 mould - he's not a Taarabt or a Stanley filled with outrageous tricks. (His game feels more like Ray Wilkins played in the final third, but with the close control of a top-draw winger - I wonder if by the end of his career he'll be playing centre midfield and doing it brilliantly.)

He always seems a nice kid too. Hope we have an excellent rest of the season with him and then I really hope he makes it all the way.
