THat little enclave of Brummies were a total embarrasment to football fans.
I thought our taunt songs were witty and thoughout, they just tried to throw back at us delinquent nonsense.
As for is that all you take away I'm sure there were twice the amount of R's compared to them?
Didnt hear a peep from the rest of the ground, not even their signature song.
Bos scores the 2nd its the start of a mass evacuation with still 25 mins plus stoppage time to go.
As for the game it was much like the Forest home game, us letting them have possesion(mostly cos we kept giving it to them).
Had Wellsthen Hugill and finally BOS been more acurate towards the end it could have been 5.
Don Givens on at half time...the PA was awful and didnt hear a word of it. Their scoreboard was rubbish not giving any info on substitutions although the Blues 0-2 QPR was a joy to behold.
Geting back after the game was a nightmare with the M6 closed and then M42 also closed.
Did a grand tour of the West Mids beore snaking my way around .
On a foot note my chum told me that Brentford brought 79 fans this season to Brum

Only sour note was MW mentioned that he heard us singing 'How s** must you be we're winning away' - a little out of date that now surely after our 5th away win of the season?

Can't blame any of their fans for leaving. We were very good but they were awful. One of the only games I've ever watched us where I wasn't hiding behind the sofa whenever they had the ball.

Can't agree at all that it's a crap city. My wife's from the West Midlands and her Dad's a Brummie and Blues fan, so I've spent a lot of time in Brum. If you know where you're going, there are loads of good/excellent pubs and restaurants, it's got some great architecture if you like a bit of Victorian Britain. But the best thing about the city is the people, who I've found to be as friendly and kind as you'll find anywhere. From being completely indifferent about the place, it's somewhere I really enjoy spending time now.
In terms of Blues, they're not a huge club, but then I've never met a Blues fan who'd argue that they are. They do have a big old latent support and in the city itself, it's probably a fairly even split between Blues and Villa, with Blues maybe shading it. Go out to the surrounding towns and it tends to be a bit more Villa, and that's definitely the case in Staffs, but still loads of Blues in towns in Worcestershire, Warwickshire etc.
Their away support has often been a bit weird - bring loads one year for no obvious reason and 1,000 the next, but the last few years their numbers have massively picked-up. 3-4,000 down at our place.
Not sure it's a crap ground either. Perfectly decent to me, although as with most grounds, I preferred it when the Kop and Tilton Road End were terraces. Not too far from New Street, a couple of cracking pubs between the station and the ground. Like Cardiff, it's a decent away day now you haven't got local tw ats trying to pick-off away fans all the time.

Yeah it's always easy to slag off other teams/cities isn't it?
I agree St Andrew's is a great old ground (in fact I think the West Midlands grounds are amongst the best in the country), it was disappointing though how their fans started heading home after the second goal went in. There was still half an hour left, you're playing QPR, have some belief!
Also a shame given the great brewing tradition of the area, that the only beers on tap in the away end were Amstel and John Smith's. Dear oh dear.

I agree with you mate.I went there in the late 70’s and almost got into a fight as soon as we left New St.We didn’t have a clue where the ground was and we had to guess the way.No police escorts in those days. After having trouble in the seats at Villa 3 months before,me and my mate decided to stand this time and we chose the big terrace full of home fans. We spent the entire game trying to avoid the gang who tried to fight the two of us at New St.Not an enjoyable night at all,especially getting beaten on the pitch too.
I went back again 3 years ago and we beat them 4-1,had a few beers in town with no trouble at all,even after the game on the walk back to the station. A few brummies seem to have a chip on their shoulders,and the accent must be up there with Scouse as the worst in Britain,but there are worse awaydays. I only wish I’d used my ticket last night instead of sitting at home with a cup of lemsip and a blanket.

I agree Konk. Birmingham is a really regenerated city. It's got a good shopping centre, all based around the station, so really accessible and what looks like good bars and restaurants. I also found the locals friendly. It's also a student city so I think the nightlife is pretty good too. I haven't spent a huge amount of time there but it's certainly somewhere I'd be happy to revisit.

Sorry but I think typically it's much harder to create an atmosphere if you're strung along a side stand, rather than concentrated behind the goal. And that's why I think a lot of clubs do it, to mitigate the amount of noise away fans might make. And that adversely affects the atmosphere in a football ground as a whole.
