Someone is in for a tanking... on 12:10 - Dec 27 by LowerloftLad
Very bipolar game we would not have looked out of place in league one for the first 35mins
Build up play was far to slow and no structure
Then we go one down and there is urgency some great slick moving of the ball and all of a sudden they can play football
Lumley made some great saves Eze had moments of real class But it's our big German at the back that stood out for me
Then theres hugill A league one striker In a championship side On a premier league wage

Hughill put in a big shift last night, always showing, had his shirt pulled in area numerous times (Ref + Line's were useless all game), could have won a penalty and was unlucky not to score equaliser when keeper saved with his head - just a shame wasn't in a position to close Swift down for their goal - certainly wouldn't have ambled out to him like Leistner.

Did anyone else find it bizarre that, according to the commentator, warburton has banned the players from shooting from anywhere more than 20 yards out? Why handicap yourself?, we got beat by a goal from that distance last night. We’re hardly good enough to walk the ball into the net (we can’t even score from 5 yards), so if a player is on the edge of the box, can see a gap, he should go for it, not look to find an impossible pass because of some arbitrary rule imposed by the manager.

Matt Smith’s shot from 30 yards out with seconds left last night was a good example of why Warburton has introduced this rule!
But on a serious note, I doubt Warburton’s done this on a whim. I’d be surprised if he hasn’t looked at the stats of goals scored beyond 20/25 yards out (I think the commentator last night said 25 yards out) and made an informed decision to introduce this rule.

I actually don't believe that. There's a lot of tosh said by both the Sky commentators and their abysmal ex-pro pundits too. Not just when we are on the box but generally for all teams. Poor all round.

We cant be that bad we are the 2nd highest scorers in the division.
AND WHEN I DREAM , I DREAM ABOUT YOU AND WHEN I SCREAM I SCREAM ABOUT YOU!!!!!
It feels like we’re getting almost as bad as Brentford, we won’t ever be as high in the justice league as them but every week all I hear is “we’re unlucky” , “could have been 6-2 to us” , “unlucky to be behind” , “we’re gonna give someone a hiding if we carry on playing like this”
Like someone said on the Twitter last night, you don’t get points for almost winning or being unlucky.
We need to be more ruthless, I wish we could recreate the half hour spell against Luton now and again, that was a proper tanking.

It’s a strange feeling as I’ve come away from the disappointment of both the Charlton and Reading results looking forward to our next game.
We’re playing entertaining football and IF we can take our chances I fancy we’ll stick a few past Hull and Cardiff.
Makes a change from recent years (this time last year excluded) when I’ve struggled to find motivation to watch our games despite having a season ticket!

I've read about this somewhere, perhaps even on here, and from Warburton's own mouth. He hasn't banned them at all, but they have gone through stats and talked constantly about the odds of long shots from various distances and angles.

I think we can say both that we should have taken our chances and that we were unlucky in the same breath.

Good job Buzsacky and Adel didn’t know about those stats!
But yeah I agree if we stick to our guns and maintain this level of performance our luck will turn and the wins will come back. I didn’t see a lot wrong with us last night.
Its funny we only remember our own bad finishing and luck.
Charlton also missed a glorious chance that hit the bar - just like Wells, they also missed a (bit harder) one on one on the GK and they also gifted us the first goal.
Its not all one way!

Best 30mins I've seen Rangers play in the last decade, including the Warnock promotion season - we were scoring a goal every 10mins and looked well on course for 6. Swarming forwards like some bà stard love child of Keegan's Newcastle and van Gaal's Ajax sides. Defending's for pussies and Paul Hart, let's go fùcking mental.
But. One mistake and we're sweating a 3-2. It's like there's a psychological Achilles heel I'm this team that wasn't there when you had Derry and Hill there. Which stands to reason because we don't have Derry and Hill there.

“Someone is in for a tanking” are the words (or very similar) to the ones written in his programme notes by Don Howe the day we beat Luton 6-1. Let’s hope your prophecy comes true as well.
