Was it one of you!! 16:24 - May 9 with 2073 viewsloftboy

Just popped to my local corner shop, on the way back to my house a cyclist wearing the 2006/7 car giant kid rode by on New City road, I gave him the usual “you R’s” but didn’t get acknowledged.

Maybe its like over here...homeless people are often bedecked in sports paraphernalia that people have donated to shelters. I've had a couple of chats that start..me, "Arsenal man are ya then?" Bedecked one, "who the fvck are Arsenal, now gimme a buck I'm jonesing for crack"..or something like that anyway.

Poll: Thank God The Seaons Over.

One of the weird things about charity is that loads of donated clothes end up in the 3rd world so occasionally when you watch Channel 4 News reporting form some obscure and horrible war in e.g. Africa it looks like the entire rebel army were big fans of assorted Premier League clubs from 10-20 years ago

Anyone remember a bloke that could be seen cycling around Shepherds Bush way back in the 70s or 80s with a sign on the bike saying California's Number 1 QPR Fan ?

Even weirder...prior to a play off final the rag trade over here is in full blast knocking up the winners t-shirts, sweats, hats etc etc, except the game hasn't been played. So the next time you're in Guatemala and see all the San Francisco Super Bowl Champs 2019....

When I was in a shopping centre in southern Spain last summer and I saw a bloke wearing a qpr shirt so I approached him for a chat about the R’s.Turns out he was over from South America and didn’t speak a word of English.A very short chat followed about Bowles and then a quick handshake and on my way back shopping.

Pretty sure this was the same old boy who cycled back from games along the Wandsworth Bridge road. Took until then to get past him!!

When all the American sports reach their final /series they print shirts for both teams so they have them to present right after the game ends .Its a regular sight players being handed their champions shirts and pulling them over their game shirts .
Supposedly the losing team gear is shipped to Africa to help out the people in need .
A bank opened its new branch downtown in Chicago and had an unofficial opening where they gave away free stuff like baseball caps and tee shirts and mugs and the like ..About a week later they had the official opening with all the top brass and wifes girlfriends etc.
When the bank president and his group was leaving a homeless man wearing their shirt and cap came up begging and the president was overheard saying "not exactly the advertising we were hoping to see " .
When the horrific ISIS uprising was in full force in Iraq and Syria they were all driving Toyota pick ups and the company had to make an official statement denouncing their brutal tactic's and promised to investigate how their trucks ended up in their hands .Not sure how that ended up to be honest

My local GAA Club (population of parish 1,000, club membership 350, playing members 150) always donate our old adult and kid shirts to African charities. We've had some photos back of groups of smiling and waving African kids bedecked in Barca, Real, Liverpool, Oírcheann, Man Utd shirts. Always makes me smile.

"As we found out yesterday Tina Moran has been given 1 month to get out of the springbok as the brewery have opted not to renew her contract after 9 years I think this is a disgrace she done wonders for that pub and has built up a great relationship with all the QPR fans that go in there. All the staff in there have been brilliant and we don't want to see them go I am going to do a petition in an attempt to keep her there!!"

Many of you may not use the 'bok but it has been a focal point for many years, along with the Smuts, and look what has happened to that!, Tina has always been very supportive of the QPR fans and knows many of them by name. Even if you don't use the pub it would be nice to offer some support for her. I believe there will be a petition ready for the Reading game and if you were able to sign it, I am sure it will be appreciated. There maybe some online version available too and if I get any details, I will pass them on.
John Cahillane has started work on getting an online petiton going. I'll post it when it is up and running. Thanks everyone.

In the late 90s I was involved in filming some videos in the middle of nowhere in a village in Malawi for a charity, and every day we'd play football for about three hours with all the local kids (decent standard). When I left I gave the headmaster of the local school my Rangers shirt (the dark blue Compaq away one) and said every year the best kid in the school should be given it.

For a few years they used to send me a letter with a photo of the "player of year" from the village wearing it but then it all faded away.

F--king amazing times, if you ever get to go to Malawi do it. Wonderful people.

When I lived in Phnom Penh I regularly watched league games.

One Saturday, as a mate and I walk through the stadium car park, I spot a young lad wearing Hoops playing football with his chums. So we go over, stop the game and pointing to the badge I repeatedly say, ‘QPR, QPR!’ to a perplexed Cambodian.

He and his mates have no idea what’s going on. As we’re getting nowhere and it’s becoming increasingly awkward, we decide to go. As we do, the lads suddenly get my drift and the QPR lad proudly says while pointing to the QPR badge: ‘Glasgow, Glasgow!’ I give in and just put my thumbs up.

So, if you’re ever in Phnom Penh during marching season and wonder why you’re seeIng a local lad - probably now in his late 20s - walking around playing a flute while wearing QPR colours, you’ll know.

About thirty years ago I worked in Kings Cross. One evening as I was on the down escalator to the Piccadilly line I spot a bloke on the up escalator dressed in a complete head to toe QPR tracksuit and if I remember correctly a QPR hold-all.

Not a common sight in Shepherds Bush, never mind Tube stations in North London, I have to acknowledge him and so shout out a massive ‘You Rrrr’s’, huge stupid grin and fist in the air. The whole escalator has heard this.

QPR man looks over at me like I’m some deranged idiot shouting random stuff out on tube escalators and completes his journey upwards with nary a glance back or recognition of our mutual connection.

My journey to the depths of London and the pit of my embarrassment continue and I barely manage to look up from my feet all the way back home.

Toyotas always the brand of choice for Somali "technicals" - if you're going to the hassle of pimping a flatbed you don't want the gearbox going on you.
