Latest statement from Robbie 07:57 - Jul 1 with 768 viewswessex_exile

For anyone who hasn’t seen it already, link below to Robbie’s latest and superb statement.

Each to their own, and given these are difficult times for everyone financially, and probably won’t improve any day soon, I wouldn’t begrudge anyone who needed a refund on their unused season tickets, match credits etc. Personally, I love the idea of Club United, and will be gladly transferring my match credit refund into it. I bought the match credits to have priority for Spurs tickets, and they continued to serve me well for Crawley and Man U, plus a couple of match tickets too, so they’ve served their purpose - the club can have the rest.

Pleased to hear safe standing is back on the agenda, from memory I though Robbie had ruled that out completely a few years ago.

I don't favour standing again. Did so at Salford and it crippled my sciatica.

Please don't answer that safe standing means you can sit or stand. The former isn't an option if somebody is standing in front of you. Maybe confine it to S1, but don't expect me to contribute to something that isn't necessarily. The kids already stand with impunity. So it would be a waste of cash.

Would sooner see my cash go towards a striker.

Noah I totally agree with you. Sorry to hear about your sciatica though.

It seems Salford has a lot to repent over, your medical condition and the injury to Callum Harriott. Ultimately his non appearance in the Play Offs cost us promotion!

If we are fortunate enough to have an all seater stadium then why change it. People forget exactly why Seats replaced terraces.

I always prefer to sit down at a game now.

In this case sit down the U's!

Yep!
Prefer a seat at U's games but always stand at non league games because you can mooch around - an entirely different kind of experience.

Agree pinault.
Saw three games at Woking last season where my son now lives and it was good to be able to move around.

Concerns understood, but actually my point was that it was another tremendous message from our chairman, and as far as I’m concerned, Club United is a fantastic idea. You seem to have focused on his ‘for instance’ suggestion that if there was enough in the pot it could be used for some rail seating in the South Stand. The key point is that it would be a fund effectively managed by us the supporters - he wasn’t saying that was what it would be spent on, it’s our choice! Also, it’s not a fund that can be used for players/ the playing budget.

On the subject of rail seats, even if Club United voted for it, I seriously doubt there would be sufficient in the fund to do more than convert the back half a dozen or so rows of S1. I’m certain if it happened it would go down very well with our most vociferous fans in that section of the ground and definitely improve the atmosphere immensely in the process. Don’t worry though, us old buggers will still have seats available in the South Stand, even if we usually stand at the back regardless.
