Here's what I think the suits, media and PL would love for their Closed Shop Wet DReam league.

1 - Arsenal
2- Man Utd
3- Liverpool
4- Man City
5- -Chelski
6 - Tottenham
7 - Leeds
8 - Aston Villa
9 -Newcastle
10 - West Ham
11 - Wolves
12 - Derby County
13 - Notts Forest
14 - Leicester
15 - Sunderland
16 - Southampton
17 - Sheff United
18 - Sheff Wed
19 - West Brom
20 - Sunderland

This is my kind of idea of the sort of table they might like if they coulkd close the shop so to speak, not an opinion of who should or should not be in the PL.
Also based on the kind of stuff you hear about certain clubs.

Should be in PL - massive side, huge support base etc etc.

This is never something they talk about with QPR - who deapite are London base don't get the London biased media darling sort of stuff others do.

Just for fun/hate etc

If there were to be two of anyone, it would have to be Leeds Leeds.

Sorry - don't forget Brentford.

I think your list is spot on and you make a good point. The times we have heard pundits saying "This city/this club/these fans deserve to be in the Premiership". It gets my goat and is a dumb thing to say, you should be there on merit, although FFP will now give you a helping hand by keeping the upstarts and the lesser clubs in their proper place

Occasionally recently pundits have said the same things about Bristol, usually in connection with The Robins (obs).

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Isn't the closed euro-shop:

1- Arsenal
2- Man Utd
3- Liverpool
4- Man City
5- Chelski
6- Tottenham

With the rest just punch bags?

If they make it a closed shop ( which I think they will sometime in the future) then what’s the point in the rest of football, surely the ultimate objective is to play as high as you can, even winning the PL or near enough then put you in the champions league. Win that and you play in the world club championship. Take away that from teams like ourselves and the game is totally finished.

No way if we lose the next game we will be off the media love list who deep down want Leeds and West Brom to go up auto and Wayne Roonys Derby to win PO s but would add Everton to the list

'top' 5 or 6 will break away for a euro super league, sky wont get a look in, and it will all go PPV per match.

The Premier League would be diabolical as a closed shop, the relegation battle is usually the only thing that brings drama near the end of the season

Don't reckon the powers that be are too fussed about Leicester.

And they'd definitely want Everton.

Are purists generally bothered about the Saints?

Norwich instead, maybe?

How spooky, I was preparing something similar across all 4 divisions. I may still post it in a new thread but seem to be missing one club and I need to work out which one it is (or I may just do it then edit it later).

I shared this page with my best mate from County Durham.

He was keen.

Although I'd'a thought supporting Sunderland once would be hard work enough...

Not a bad list. I'd definitely include Everton and would ditch one of the Sheffield teams and Southampton?

Defiunitely Everton, they were one of the top five when I was younger!

Manure, Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal, Tottenham.

Luckily there is space for them as Sunderland are taking up two spaces!

If it was a closed shop it would be based on support and ability to expand stadiums. So that rules out the likes of WBA, Southampton. You'd see clubs doing lots of building work, knowing it's not a gamble anymore. Wolves would finish their's, Everton would finally get a new ground etc.

The problem for them is that if they were all in a European Super League, most of them would become losers in that league.

That's why they need the domestic punch bag league.

Brentford? Premier League wouldn't want them in there, they'd definitely be the best team that everyone else in the league played all season
