New Clint story - Cisse. on 03:52 - Aug 9 with 4291 views | charmr | The comment ‘too many cowboys here’ how pertinent Listened to the one with Barton, I think what he said was true about the club, Hughes, Redknapp and Warnock however his total lack of any self awareness and self importance was off the charts. Has taken me a long time to get properly interested in Rangers after those days. Back now and I do think the club, especially Hoos knows it and has tried to heal the wounds.

Indeed. It undoubtedly leaves a sour taste, even after all this time.
New Clint story - Cisse. on 08:50 - Aug 9 with 3956 views | Blue_Castello | A great story from Clint, I know the word legend is completely over used but he was superb for us, gave everything on the field , was a leader on the pitch and used his ageing ability very cleverly, not many wingers actually got past him. What we would give for a player like Clint at the moment, I know it will never happen but would love him back as defensive coach.

Very true mate.I took my daughter along to the open day in July 2010 and all these new faces wandered along signing autographs, most of which we’d never heard of.But what a team Warnock brought together that summer. And what a great season it was. My daughter still goes but now she realises it won’t always be like that being a Qpr fan. If only we could get that team back on the pitch for a reunion this coming season.Although some are still playing I guess.
New Clint story - Cisse. on 10:47 - Aug 9 with 3723 views | francisbowles | It is said there were a lot of cliques in the dressing room, French speakers clique, Portuguese speakers etc. I would say that there was a scousers' clique as well and that Clint was firmly in that camp with Barton. I have great respect for Clint's efforts for our club but being close to Barton, really?
New Clint story - Cisse. on 12:23 - Aug 9 with 3560 views | DannyPaddox | I loved Cissé’s goal celebration at Stamford Bridge. It was like ‘you’ve scored six? whatever - fcuk you and who are you anyway?’ In fact for me Cissé was one of the few shining lights during that era of cringe and I don’t get it when people dig him out on here. I don’t know what happened at the end of his stay with us but I remember him as someone who gave it all when he was on the field, was passionate, and could actually play. Sounds like he could take care of himself too. Of course Clint is a ledge but from what he says here he liked to dish it out but he wasn’t so good at taking it. And any mate of Barton’s ... well I’m conflicted here.

Yes. I liked Cisse. Absolute nutter, but he did the business regularly - Stoke (h), Liverpool (h), Man.City (a) etc. The red cards were a bit of a liability but he had far more in the plus column than the minus for me. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That day really hurt but Cisse's goal was more than a consolation. I totally understand Clint's reaction and I'm not claiming for one second that Cisse understood but all of us do We beat the scum 6 nil and they still haven't matched that result. Our song wouldn't have the same meaning without that goal

Ya, after everything Barton did to our club I just don't get that. And I lost some respect for Hill over it.

New Clint story - Cisse. on 13:33 - Aug 9 with 3390 views | Paddyhoops | Cisse without doubt was a 24 carat bellend however his last minute winner versus Stoke kept us up. .The noise when that went in was explosive. I honestly thought the stadium would cave in on itself!!
New Clint story - Cisse. on 17:40 - Aug 9 with 3049 views | bosh67 | Essentially Clint is an Rs legend but obviously a liability to himself in a fight. Cisse must have been impossible to deal with, especially in the skirt and boots and he was a red card waiting to happen, but... 1 in 3 in his limited Prem career for us wasn't bad and he was one hell of a finisher. I respect him purely because if you can come back from your leg all but being severed twice that makes you okay in my books, however mad you are. The more I hear about that period the more I feel that Hughes so badly misjudged what a team was about and he seemed to get swept away in the club's desire to create a mad Harlem Globetrotter Allstar team rather than an actual working team.

New Clint story - Cisse. on 18:12 - Aug 9 with 2992 views | DannytheR | Yeah, not sure about this one at all. Of course fights happen on training grounds every day, but if this exact same story involved Barton instead of Clint, we'd all be talking about what a psycho and disgrace to the shirt he was. On top of that Cisse had not one but two of the most evil broken legs in recent football, one for Liverpool and one for France —Â Google the images if you can stomach it - so I can see why he might not have seen the funny side of getting left on the floor in training and told he's in England now.

Two good points - particularly the Barton one.

Come off it, you don't know Joey at all. In life, most people, certainly people like Clint, will 'treat 'em as they find 'em', that's how it's always been. Every player is quick to say Joey is a good bloke, so it's as simple as that. I'm not at all surprised they got on well. There's no negative mark there for Clint. The Joey we loathe is the media alter-ego Joey, his big stupid mouth and false pretentious nonsense. That won't be how he is in the changing room at all. Would dearly love to have Clint Hill back as a defensive coach one day.

Not every player is quick to praise Barton - Nedum Onuoha has been pretty vocal about his dislike for Barton, and he played with him for years in the City academy, in the first team and for QPR. You don't stub a cigarette in a teammate's eye, repeatedly get sent off for violent conduct and assault an opposition manager if it's all a media alter-ego. He's a narcissist, a bully and a violent dckhead - it's a rare mark against Clint that he's mates and assistant to him.

Agreed. Very well put. I would only add that one of those dismissals would have helped us towards relegation at City if it wasn't for results elsewhere.

You say that but he was quite fortunate at one point, getting deliberately sent off against Bolton in our opening Premier league match where we capitulated in the second half; earned him a swift loan out to Forest with his QPR career seemingly over.

True. Think we need to include the context here before we get the tar and feathers out for Clint - 'lads chat', bit of poetic licence etc etc. It wouldn't be the first time two players irritated each other and ended up having a fracas anyway. I do agree that Cisse didn't sound like the villain but Clint's always been great for us on and off the field, and this isn't anywhere near enough to change that, in my book at least. As for the friendship with Barton, it's a tricky one but people can sometimes find ways to get along with people who are in many ways arseholes a lot of the time. Doesn't mean they're soul mates. I can think of a couple of old friends from home who if I went by their Faceache gibberings I'd probably never bother with them again so I limit my exposure rather than cutting them off. All of which means to say, basically, fcuk it, who knows, certainly not I.
New Clint story - Cisse. on 15:22 - Aug 10 with 1978 views | joe90 | I think the point of the story is that Clint had a rubbish fight. It's meant to be self deprecating, not boasting.
