Season Ticket renewals. 21:51 - Sep 2 with 26322 viewsEsox_Lucius

I was chatting on the phone tonight with Dave Thomas and we spent a long time discussing what lay ahead for us both. We are both now in the seniors category so and fans likely to be allowed back in the ground wouldn't include us, and most of the friends we have both made in many, many years whilst we have been going to W12 and around the country.
This would mean the end of our regular seats in the Upper Loft through no fault of our own and the thought of buying a season ticket whilst not being allowed in the stadium doesn't sound in the least bit attractive on a fixed income. Sitting in a stadium with just a few thousand fans who are not allowed to sing or cheer doesn't set the body tingling either and the whole issue of entry and egress, coupled with toilet breaks means it is going to be fairly unworkable.
Having had a lifelong viewpoint of don't just keep coming up with problems, come up with solutions I had a think. Foremost in my thinking is...
*The club need money to survive and season tickets form an integral part of that each season.
*I don't want to pay for something I am not going to be able to use for the foreseeable future.
*I don't want to give up my seat in the Upper Loft.
* I am not interested in swapping out my matchday ticket for a stream.
What I came up with was to permit the club to take out the direct debit as normal once they are ready to do so and offer a number of options as to what fans want to do with that season ticket.
Redeem it with a stream for home and away matches until such a time as fans are allowed back into the stadium in a reduced and managed capacity.
Redeem it with a stream for home and away matches until such a time as fans are allowed back into the stadium in the normal fashion.
Neither of the above but, for the duration of the period before normal service is resumed, each match ticket not used is credited towards the following seasons season ticket on a one for one basis.
This would allow fans who sit together to retain their group of seats and still allow the club to get much needed funding.
Thoughts?

The grass is always greener.

Yes, Good stuff, eventually, securing existing seats for 21/22 season is exactly the right thing to do, it takes away a primary concern.

now they can forge ahead with match ticket ballots for those that have renewed before the deadline and for those that dont fancy ending up in random areas of the ground during restrictions they dont need to apply and i imagine will receive pro-rata credits against next season or a end of season refund after streaming deductions are made

There isn't a deadline yet?

Announcement welcome as is Lee Hoos statement that

a) won't be taking money off fans that can't see games and
b) refunds available for those that want it
c) seat secured for 21/22

BUT why another delay - 'full details next week' - what's going to change over next 5 days or so?

Think I'm going to bite the bullet and renew and see what happens.

I suspect they're working through what they're going to be able to do and when before they say anything else. Seen suggestions that Blackburn are going to try and do a test event for their game on September 25, when we play Boro at home. So they're obviously thrashing through what it's going to look like and when. The government landed an 80-odd page document on them a few weeks ago and trying to make Loftus Road comply with it is challenging to say the least.

I think that's a good holding pattern statement. It certainly answers the concerns I had. Presumably next one will be 'we expect to have x of you back in the ground for this game on this date and this is how we'll decide who that's going to be..." then people can make a renewal decision based on that, safe in the knowledge the seat is reserved.

Season Ticket renewals. on 13:23 - Sep 4 with 2751 viewsA_B_4

It's certainly helped clarify a lot but for me there remains a couple of big questions unanswered..

1) If we cancel our STs as we don't want or need a stream can we pick them up again (pro-rata) when fans are allowed to go back to the stadium - whether that will be via a ballot or full capacity?
2) If we cancel our STs but save our seats will fans get access to the early renewal window and reduced prices next year?

Obviously we want to support the club through thick and thin and I know a lot of us donated our refund last year to the club but this is different. We're talking about a full football season and people who have multiple STs in the same household will not require multiple streams.

A few days until their next announcement wont hurt - just hope they cover off all these points there or possibly hold a virtual forum on the subject perhaps?

Come on mate, I get that you want to know the full details so you can make a decision but you have to cut them a bit of slack with regards this

Yes agree mostly, and the word 'refund' is welcome, although it could imply that if you have renewed and now want to change your mind you can have your money back - which is obviously good news, sensible and better than Cardiff are offering at the moment, for example.

Of course they don't know how many of us can watch how many games so partial refunds can't be promised or even mentioned until next spring.

As I've said before though, can't see how they can decide on how to allocate seats for a reduced capacity if they don't know how many ST holders they have and because of the 'indefinite' renewal deadline, that's the position they are in.

Lee Hoos statement about not charging fans when they can't see games has persuaded me to renew - this afternoon! I use my referee money anyway, so I'm not going through all that pain for nothing - if I don't use it for this Mrs PP will fritter it away on bread, milk, things like that!

Sorry I disagree Dave - of course the club doesn't know how/when we are going back - BUT that has been the position for months and will be the position 'next week'

I assume some form of ballot system will be used I guess, based on various things including how many STer are renewed as things currently stand.

Say they got 10K (Isnt that the top wack they sell if they can) then they can only get 5K in then in theory evey other game would be possible, assuming no away fans are allocated tickets till things are "Normal" again.... if ever....

Not sure football even at this level could go indefinitely only selling tiny numbers like 5K every week.

Don’t think fans will carry on watching streams for ever either , just can’t get excited watching them if this continues and fans aren’t allowed back in people will give up for good both watching the stream and going to games when ever that’s likely to be

I think your right Wombat, I guess it's one thing if you live a long way away or abroad so could only ever get to the odd game but for the types who go regularly then not, losing the habit could be devastating for football in the long run. The only saving grace they currently have is how much else cannot be done either but as other options become available, and people lose intrerst, we're losing a lot or playing poor football.

Far more likely to walk away and thinking... I'll watch the highlights...... if we win...... and disaster for football looms.

I note government asking for more (I think) football to be screened live presumably by ITV or BBC or whoever.

Thats already happened with my son, he's never been a big fan of watching on TV and he quickly got bored of the streams and not really interested, he wants to go to games when we can again but that may well change in the coming months

That's a shame but perfectly understandable, only positive is I doubt there will be a huge rush to nick your seat for this season so you'll hopefully be able to get it back the following season

Actually no, I think that's piss poor.

There's no reason to think more people will want to see live football in general and QPR in particular this season, but I bet there are a number of people who will think twice about going to live match whilst Covid is still about. This I believe will lead to reduced numbers (even if restrictions weren't in place), so surely it wouldn't be hard to allow the sale of this seat on a match by match basis but still reserve it for this fan as a first choice ST for next season.

They have done. all 19/20 st holders have their seats reserved for the 21/22 season, even if they dont renew this season and even if they have renewed they can now cnacel and get a refund and still have their seat reserved for 21/22

Thats as get as it gets

So far watched every game and on the feed and the lack of atmosphere is killing it , this must how it is being a Fulham fan for life . Somebody said that fans won’t go back until COVID is gone , chances are then that they won’t ever go back as COVID in some form of other is here to stay , as is the flu every year and yes it’s worse than the flu to some people before anyone says it .

Hope you're wrong and I'm right but to say we're never going back is surely too pessimistic - especially as test events underway very soon.

Even IF covid is always 'around' and I think, like flu and hundreds of other virus/infections, sure it will be - infection rates at 10 - 20 per 100,000 we will have to live with - especially once/if vaccine available.

Mentioned before but flu kills 20,000 in UK EVERY year and that's WITH a vaccine free to all over 60 (50 from this winter) and we live with that.

Where did you get those flu figures from? The Office of National Statistics give the following figures for England and Wales: 2017 - 258 deaths, 2018 - 1,598 deaths and 2019 - 1,223 deaths. admittedly this doesn't include NI and Scotland but I can't believe that make up the difference in your figures.

The chief medical advisor at the very start said flu kills 20,000 and he was hoping (obviously didn't happen!) to keep covid deaths to that figure.

I think the death figures are a bit arbitary to be honest. Included all deaths when anyone had covid at all, then reduced to include only those that had it 28 days before death, now increased again today, but don't know why!

Likewise with the flu figures - see below that says c7,500 deaths in only 8 weeks during the summer, which would make 20,000 since Jan 1st entirely plausible?

I think I've found the reason for the difference. The figures I got from the ONS are just the flu figures. What the Sun quote are flu + pneumonia, which is another lung condition that is NOT flu, although it can be brought on by flu.

I'm suspicious that the Sun are deliberately misinforming people here.

PS on a personal note I had pneumonia last year, it developed from a simple cold to a chest infection that I did't deal with quick enough to pneumonia. The joys of old age!

You could be right - this gives more balance. But I did hear Mr Wittey say flu was about 20,000 deaths a year. Sorry Clive for hijacking ST thread - last from me on this promise!

Very good news by the club.

Headlines - All games with a reduced or no capacity you get 1/23 refund if you can't go
Ballot for games when we can get in - 1/23 refund if you don't get a seat in the ballot with 'priority' for next fixture
Code will be emailed to all ST holders for Saturday
Deadline is Thurs 5pm to renew and get on line access for Saturday
Lots about social bubbles
Caveat that you might/probably not get your seat or even in your ST price band, if that's not for you, again you get 1/23 refund.
All that is excellent by the club and the only niggle, which I said last week is that they could have done all that when EFL/Sky deal announced, but that's a minor quibble and the 1/23 refund means genuine 'free' on line access, that seems better than some other clubs.

Well done the club, in the end.
