The artistic side of music. 19:59 - Sep 26 with 2391 viewsqpr_1968

Another music thread i know....but music and football seem to go.

first of all, what do you prefere.....vinyl, with there lovely album covers, or cd's.
i think i'd sway to the vinyl if i had to pick.

Album cover sleeve designs......not sure there are many yes fans on here, but their album covers designed by roger dean are in my opinion superb.
see an album sleeve design by hipgnosis on an xtc cover, go 2. all words, different.

and finally i know there are thousands to pick from, but music videos have been with us for years, so 3, not saying are the best but.....
1/..clint eastwood....gorillaz, 2001
2/.another brick in the wall, pink floyd, 1979.
3/. because it was filmed in my sisters house, the importance of being idle....oasis, 2005.

Never enough music threads. Better than talking about Rangers or corona.

LPS, records (vinyl if you MUST).

XTC - GO2 or Drums and Wires or English Settlement.

Johnny Cash - Hurt
Talk Talk - It’s My Life (original version )
Adam and the Ants - Stand and Deliver

Drums and Wires is a great album. Talk Talk were a massively underrated group imo with Spirit of Eden being an absolute masterpiece.

Although I have now embraced digital music with all the benefits and convenience of it I do still love vinyl and CDs which were at least a mini version of vinyl. Vinyl forced you to listen to the whole album and discover 'growers' that doesn't happen any more.

Bez: a modern day animistic Holy man performing rhythmic physical ritual in the manner of the whirling dervish, gnawa clairvoyants, and other revered eastern mystics in order to purify the soul?

... or just another Manc pill-head?

i love the vinyl package - much more tactile, gatefold sleeves, lyric sheets, booklets with the anarcho-punk stuff, then the anticipation and excitement as the needle drops onto the record, the initial vinyl/needle sounds and then the first notes kick in, i had better quality components in those days as well. bass and treble control!
but..............fck me, they scratched easily, getting ready to go out, hairspray and soap dripping off my mohican onto the vinyl................
Roger Dean! one of my older brothers used to get those books of album covers, loved his stuff, so when they had an exhibition of his stuff at the local museum last year I toddled along, enjoyed it, very nostalgic.
Music videos not so big in the music i listen to and i like albums not tracks if you will, but this is the first one I remember thinking 'wow' to

While "In Between Days" is not my favorite Cure song (#34, if you wondered), it is my favorite video of theirs.
