Of course I fcuking would! How could you not? Although on recent performances unlikely to return from the Blue and White for the second half.

As long as the second half of the question isn't 'or spend the afternoon in the bath with all of the female presenters from A Place in the Sun?'

Then it's a no.

Christ yes

I might even watch 20 minutes of the game.
The club is a circus and it’s basically carrion, but match day has increasingly less to do with the game and more to do with so, so, so much more than that

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Not really why I posted this. It is more about people's attitude towards C-19 rather than whether QPR are any good or not.

Even if QPR were top of the league winning every game, I'm just not sure that I'd go - I really do not want to catch COVID and without any limitations, going straight back to crowds would be insanity.

I was just trying to gauge whether people would ignore everything common sense about this virus and just go to games.

I wouldn't go, Dav. It wouldn't be safe.
Not yet anyway.

Tp start of with full disclosure, I don't go anyway. But if you asked me if QPR were playing locally, or would I go to watch Rovers (that's Sligo ,not those Sham fakes in Dublin ,champions - pah!) or Sligo GAA, (unless my son was playing) the answer is no. It is simply not safe and there are too many variables outside my control.
That said, I'm a teacher and (in Ireland anyway) the Govt seem hell bent on keeping the schools open at any cost. The reason they gave over here, for playing matches behind closed doors, is not so much that the stadia are an unsafe for supporters to be, but the risk of congregating before and after matches is the issue. Yet we are faced with a very similar problem in the schools. The classrooms themselves are quite safe, students are one metre apart, all wearing masks, using sanitiser on the way in to each room and sanitisising their desk after each lesson. The problem is students congregating before and after school and particularly during lunch break and moving from one class to another.
So in that sense, I would probably be safer in an outdoor stadia than an indoor classroom. The difference is, I don't have a choice when it comes to going to work.

Hmmm....

I'd like to think so, Paul, but wouldn't be that confident in the current British Government.
I'd give it a few weeks.

Or any Govt Brian. I know we have a Corkman in charge but he seems a bit at times. Not that I'm saying the man from my neck of the woods (Kenny) was any better. I wouldn't have liked him in charge during a pandemic. The reality is they are all learning on the job, so it must be difficult making life -affecting decisions in this environment.

I sat in a pretty packed pub yesterday afternoon watching the game on my phone with my stepson who'd come over for the weekend, while a game was being played in an empty ground a 15 minute walk away.

Please help me make some sense of this nonsense

I agree 100% - Micheál Martin is dreadful. I thought Varadker did very well. I'd never vote for either of them but Martin is shocking by comparison to Varadker.

But I wouldn't trust anything that Johnson and Co. say so if they lifted the ban I would give it a few weeks and see how it goes.

I’m not sure it’s worthwhile trying to make sense if it.

The reality is, this is unprecedented. The Govt are trying to walk a fine line in minimising deaths and economic reality.

The rules aren’t perfect, in fact in some cases they are bizarre, but taking a step back, tackling this relies upon people being sensible. This is a virus that kills people. You can’t see it, smell it, feel it, hear it, taste it. So the sensible thing to do would be to minimise the risk of infection as far as possible by avoiding, as far as possible, coming into contact with people who might have it. So I would have thought the stronger argument would be why go to a pub, not why can’t I go to football? The pubs are open because it would be economic Armageddon to keep hem closed indefinitely so they’ve been allowed to open. But it’s no surprise that infection rates are now increasing.

I know football isn’t immune from huge economic pressures but let’s be honest, the Premier League is awash with an obscene amount of money. Many clubs out of the top flight have very wealthy owners. There’s plenty of money in and around football to help all clubs, the problem is the nauseasly greedy big clubs are prepared to let the others die of use this as an opportunity to kill them off. That’s football’s problem, not the Government’s, they’ve got more important priorities.

Fair enough Brian, I think everyone has to make their own judgements.

Everyone is as well as far as I can see.

I think most accept that there is no danger of infection or infecting anyone else when driving in your car with the windows shut on your own, but you still see loads of people doing so wearing masks - where's the sense in that?

I'm also so close to screaming at one my my neighbours who has been walking down the middle of the road, yep that's the traffic part!, since March "WHY man? WHY?"

I agree that Varadker and Harris 'stepped up' at the very beginning of the pandemic Brian, but I think they got a bit of a free pass from the people, who were all cowed by the fear of the unknown and therefore more compliant than currently. Worth remembering how they got on in the General Election a month previously and that election was only called to prevent Harris losing a vote of no-confidence.
I had an uncle who was a Fine Gael govt minister back in the day, but still wouldn't trust any politician overly much. Me Fein is still the biggest party in most countries.

I wont be at LR anytime soon definitely not this season that's for sure even if the ban was lifted tomorrow.

When this murdering Covid-19 bastard thing has been eradicated I'll feel a lot more comfortable about going out then and only then will I go to LR and on the odd occasion the Crown & Sceptre or any of the other pubs, as for now;
Wash your hands.
Social distance.
Wear a mask.
Take Vitamin D (optional)

Well nothing's 'safe', but I think we're probably all doing things that are less safe than going to the football at the moment.
I think a properly spaced crowd of 3000-5000, wearing masks, would be pretty safe. Public transport less so, but actually being in the ground I think would be about as safe as you can get at the moment if people are polite and sensible about it.

Bare bones.

You'll be waiting a long time, Ted. It will never be eradicated.
Absolute best we can hope for is a vaccine that works reasonably well on most people, and for treatments to improve. But it will never be eradicated.

Bare bones.
