would make sense on loan, hopefully he does well for us again but hasn't looked the same player for a few years now

Defo not the same player but miles better than what we have and is a quality finisher. Be a great signing and a lift for the fans.

Lets hope, if the deal happens, we get the player that we sold and not the player that I have seen recently.

I agree with you that he hasn't Dave but I reckon that even as overweight and past his best as he looks now he would still be vastly more effective than our present strike force and would be a big step in the right direction towards keeping us up.

Not surehe ever looked happy at Southampton and I understand he had some family problems whilst he was at West brom which are all sorted now.

A hungry Charlie Austin coming back here could be amazing.

When I say hungry I don't mean that he now has a love of nando's, KFC, subway and burger king 😁

I'm ABSOLUTELY LOVING THIS.

He can smack / head a ball in the net and sniff an opportunity. He is what we need.

Massive coup for me if it happens, thrilled.

Cant help thinking that a lot of the chances we have made and missed would have been converted by an even less than super fit Charlie.
Maybe we could be at least 9 points better off, because Dykes in the box has been disappointing but with Charlie sharing the pressure might have helped.
Just saying.

Didn't Dykes prefer to play up front with another striker?

532 would fit this model.

Just need another Central defender, left back and midfielder

My word! Wonder what will happen with his wages? Who cares for now - something positive just happened!

Be very happy if this ocmes off.

Not only would he be able to convert a good portion of the numerous chances we've failed to but, and this is hopefully part of the reason for considering him, none of our three match day strikers woud've played or even trained with anyone like Charlie, they can only benefit and progress from watching and learning at close quarters.

Well, he wasn't great at the lone striker role, although I understand he did get better after moving on, and he never had any pace. He can however find space in the box and can power in headers and shots.

This will only work if we can get the ball to him, i.e. if Chair and BOS (if he is here) lift their heads and play the ball earlier and more accurately. It may also have a better chance with him feeding off Dykes or Bonn if we play two up top.

Whatever happens we are trying to improve our options and boost our flagging squad.

Please let this happen! And not only for the Charlie Niko chant.

I feel like a kid at Christmas right now. Pathetic, I know.

Suffering since 1978.

I dont expect he will be a shadow of his former QPR self but if we do get him for the next 6 months it might be the very difference between League 1 and The Championship for us next season

Even if he was half as good as he was before, I would welcome him with open arms

This would be a huge signing.
I think that Chair and BOS would learn very quickly when to play the ball into him, they wouldn't get to choose when they preferred to do it, they'll get told in no uncertain terms if they cost him a goalscoring chance. Could be very valuable in their development

Right I'm starting with the first Charlie moan!

You know he used to do that, hands on head thing when a chance was close?

He now does it after EVERY goal attempt, close or not!

Still will make a change from the " Couldn't care less" look from a certain player!

Brilliant news.

I wouldn't mind if they brought Murray in to as a back up, give Dykes a rest and teach him and bonne in training.

Kelman too would learn a lot.

Charlie won't miss the chances Dykes and Bonne have who ever slim they have been, if we don't create the chances then the manger will have to adapt his tippy tappy game plan or go.

We riot if he scores the winner against Luton on Tuesday!
