The Early Edition Rhyming Slang 'Aitor Karanka' Match Thread 11:42 - Feb 26 with 32929 viewsDorse

Currently undefeated when starting match threads this season, I was unsurprised when Warbs 'Warby' Warburton called this morning and insisted that I start this one. 'Dorse', he said, for we are close and often share recipes, 'you know what to do'.

Sadly, I didn't but it was nice of him to call.

Well that should cement Dykes and Chair’s places in the starting 11 from now on: both were missed today (thought Dykes did well when he came on). Dieng solid, Charlie taken off far too early when it was clear a 2nd goal would finish them. Niko offers nothing going forward, Stefan played well apart from the appalling miss, Ball very poor throughout.

Terrible result against a very poor team.

Yes Austin going off is not the sole reason why we lost today but your taking off a goal threat with 35 minutes plus injury time to go ? Who is seriously going to score for us when they equalised or try and grab a second
It just goes to show where we would be with out Austin this second half of the season

In fairness we didn't need to show again at that time. And there had been plenty of evidence in this game, and the previous 7, that we were capable of defending it out.

A fresh Dykes was a better option than a tired Charlie to press from the front. I'd have given Charlie a little longer myself but blaming that loss on Austin going off is missigg the point a bit for me.

Those days when you went Skegness and pulled some bird with a gammy eye and you think oh well, night get away with this one and just when you’re about to shoot for glory and leg it, she shoves a cucumber up yer jacksy. She then buggers off laughing, leaving you in a crumpled mess on the carpet.

We're all disappointed. Not a great performance but we had enough about us to win it which makes it more disappointing.
We move on this barmy leauge , 15 games to go, 40 points racked up and only 17th.
Let's get back on the horse and beat Barnsley in midweek!!

Agree with all but didn't think Ball was poor.

Willers is still for now of more value as a 30 min super-sub imho.

Weird game. Thought we were lucky to be level at half time let alone ahead. But second half we were well on top and didn't see that coming at all. Poor result, but not the big deal it would have been a month ago. Barring something ridiculous we'll be fine, just have to stay focused

Frustrating to lose but recent form has been excellent, you're never going to win every game. Lady luck has been on our side once or twice recently, perhaps today it went against us, thats life.

If we can bounce back Wednesday, all will be good again.

If not, perhaps we just get the pitchforks and fire ready etc...

Lets pretend we lost at Preston, and drew at Birmingham. Now, that makes you feel better eh. Beat Barnsley, and all will be forgotten.

On the plus side, we now have an advantageous platform from which to retake 16th.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Very poor result
No threat up top without Austin. Dykes does ok, but seems to need to play off of someone like Austin. He's not a constant threat. Bonne did nothing.

We give the ball away far too easily every match. We give the opponent many chances to score. This is inevitable giving away possession like we do.

Barbet was terrible. I also blame Warbs for taking Austin off way too early.

Austin got taken off because he's not fit enough to play 90.

He's a young professional footballer who's got a belly on him.

How can a young man like that be so happy and smiling coming off the field with 35 minutes of work left undone?

Austin has played way more than 55 minutes in other matches. He played the full match vs Brentfordcelona. He could have stayed on for another 15 minutes a least.

Resignation not accepted. You've been given one more chance for our next game on Tuesday against Barnsley. It's Match Thread make or break.

And as has been made clear on here tonight we all know what we will do coming off two poor performances thus making us look down the league again instead of looking up and playing against the now inform team that has won their last 5 and another win would take them into the plays.

Does anybody want to confidently predict the result?!

Good Luck Dorse. You've got a couple of days to prepare something Preston Match Threadesque...

Exactly.

Its a bonkers division - Preston, Derby, Birmingham - 1 point; Watford, Bournemouth, Brentford, Blackburn - 12 points.

Haven't read much on here as I knew there would be the usual ott reactions from people who rarely post on here when we win - not been proved wrong from the few I have read.

On to the next one

Like the the mythical heroes of old, I shall once more, take up the keyboard, give the old sinews a good stiffening and loins a perfunctory girding, cry 'Fcuk Chelsea' and let slip the gifs of war!

having seen brums 2 goals, i thought the first was a good header, he rose hig and buried it...the 2nd, well we never closed down quick enough, let him cut in and curl a beauty into the net. sky sports called johansens chance "miss of the day", harsh as goalie was coming out, poor pitch and he had little time. a good chance but not a sitter./ open goal
