He's a young Ipswich academy player who the new manager, Cook, doesn't seem to like. Ipswich fan's opinion on him seems to be split with many saying he doesn't apply himself though most agree he is talented.

He's the son of Jason Dozzell who played for Ipswich and Spurs.

The Ipswich barneys about Dozzell are like a blend of our Amos and LTC ones.

I think he would have been handy and at least have given us an element of security with so many question marks at this moment, but if Carroll wants to get a starting spot somewhere then fair play to him, it's not something we can guarantee.

He’s ok, still lightweight, if he doesn’t want to sign on the clubs terms then put the money towards getting Johansen.

I'm not sure where he thinks he can get a better deal?

Released by Swansea on a free. Snapped up by us and 22 games before his latest injury.
He'll be 29 soon and it's hard to see many Championship clubs desperate to recruit someone like LTC.

I would totally guess that's what he's after, a 2-year deal and I bet we're only offering him a 1 year.

He may get such a deal from Hull or Blackpool or even a 3 year deal from Sheff Wed. He needs to ensure he gets a longer-term deal now than we are offering which is fair enough.

Especially he may be fit for all of next season, yet with our improvement still not get games. A big risk for him with us for a 1-year deal.

Mowat on a free you say?

I read that as he thinks we'll get Stef and there's no place for him in the starting XI. Inshallah.

Really do not think he’d be missed at all, and would assume he’d have been one of our highest earners based in his background.

might not be money - longer deal as others have said is more likely, or possibly even wanting more assurances of first team football.

Bare bones.

Last season showed we needed bodies when Carroll and Amos got injured. And there is no certainty that we will get Johansen in. So let’s see how our recruitment do. Would possibly free up budget to get Johansen done, but on the other hand Fulham know that we need him more now.

Not that we will rely on him solely but I did keep on thinking that we were missing a trick at the end of last season when the faint playoff hopes disappeared. Bettache could have been given more minutes. He didn’t get first team action on loan and ended up sitting most of the time on the bench.

Ha ha, 3 year deal at Sheffield Wednesday, that would make my day Butler.

To no-one’s surprise this would please me.

But I wish him well. Perhaps he needs to look further afield. Perhaps his game is better suited to a different league (Spain?)

I suppose any wages saved from Carroll can be added to the Johansen offer.

IF we get Johansen then you have him and Field as first choice with Ball and Bettache as back up.

Possibly Amos too, but I think he is better suited to an AM role than DM.

in all his time at qpr, i can recall few games where carroll was pivotal and motm or a matchwinner. i found him overall flat imo. cheers and cheerio.

I think we've moved a bit further away from needing a Carroll in the side. (Maybe a Carol Vorderman for number crunching and mid life debauchery but that's a different matter).

He must be so sick of hearing the term lightweight but we do need more of a balance between pressing and the TC stuff.

Even if we can't get Johanssen we'll still need to look at options that fulfil that better than he does without the need for a Derry type beside him - even with Field who I think could have a great season. So best of luck to Tom and, as JFH would say, we move on.

Felt he was a much improved player under Warballs, started to put in some much better performances and clearly had developed since his previous time with us much earlier in his development.

Was really unlucky to get injured just as he started to get going, but... he was given only a years contract previously because a. he was a gamble and b. he had previous injury issues. I am guessing that a new contract was offered in a similar vein and Carroll possibly feels he has shown that he is worth better offer than we made.

I like him to be honest and think he showed himself to be a pretty good option last year before he got injured. I guess that a replacement of his quality/experience might cost us more than we can probably afford - but I would be equally as cautious in any contract offer that we made given the injury setbacks and that we now have now improved the squad since he last played.

Never knowingly understood

Swap Johanson for Carroll and that’s similar cover to what we had last year... and we ended up having to get a loan signing to cover. Granted we were unlucky in having two long term injuries.

Sounds like Dozzell from Ipswich will be incoming at some point so that would fill that gap.
