So, absolutely bloody thrilled, your next Patreon guest will be TC. Been chasing for a while and thanks to Mel/Norfolt we're over the line, interview next Wednsday, podcast and written version will drop in the November international break.

Now, as this one is slightly before my time, I need your help guys. Questions, anecdotes, memories, anything you've got. What do you want to hear about in this interview?

Does he remember clearing up in defence, then when Peter Hucker looked to him with the ball, saying "Don't give it to me for f's sake, I'm knackered"? One of the funniest things I remember at a match as a kid.

Absolute class. And despite his reputation, was a real workhorse (as the above indicates).

I am still Steve but no longer in Dagenham.

Did he like my 'banner' (6 pages of A4 sellotaped together) at Wembley that read Currie's Too Hot For Spurs?

ah the innocence of youth.

He was indeed.

Shame this doesn’t show the curler against Southampton that was heading towards the corner flag before it went in, but does include a wonder goal v West Ham. Wonderful player.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

Thanks for posting, Mick. Particularly liked Marsh and Currie having their very own skills competition at the beginning. Only wore the number 10 shirt at Sheff, Utd in those clips, it seems.

It’s a bit Vic and Bob, isn’t it?

I have tried to link the Leeds goal (fookin’ massive) v Southampton(fookin’ tiny) but, no joy. The ball was heading towards the corner flag before it went in. Not sure which year, but it won goal of the season.

How and why did his move to QPR come about? On the face of it it was strange that an England player would go to a second division side.

Did the management team say what the goals of the club were at the time?

How did he get on with Venables?

Which club did Currie support growing up?

Does he regret his penalty box foul on Roberts in the 1982 Cup Final Replay that obviously cost us the match with Hoddle's pen conversion? What did he think he was doing and would he do it again?

How did he and the other players feel about the palpably bent pro-Spurs ref, the disallowed goal, and the general sense of injustice at not at least drawing the game? Was the post-match feeling among the players one of being robbed or just unlucky?

What does he think about the disappearance of ball-playing 'flair' players like himself, Bowles, Marsh, Worthington etc. from the modern game? How much is modern coaching to blame? Does he share my view that football is as much about fitness, athleticism and 'sports science' now rather than entertainment, individualism, and swashbuckling enjoyment?

How much is/was his Goal of the Season for Leeds vs Southampton sheer talent and how much practice?

Memories of the 1981/82 season leading up to the FA Cup final.
I always liked his link up play with Simon Stainrod, remember the time being in the Paddocks against Crystal Palace in a league game in 81 , when TC played this sublime ball through to Simon Stainrod to chase onto and we could hear him shout go on you f****r score.

Seeing as modern players have no hiding place in and out of football, If social media had been about in his day, which players he played with, and against, would’ve suffered the most?

Does he think he should’ve had more England caps?
If so, who does he think got caps undeservedly in front of him?

Which maverick players over the last 25-30 years has he enjoyed watching for QPR & other teams?

I think his last match for us was in the Cup Final, when he ran the show in the replay. He was only 32 at the time.

I know he got injured a fair bit, but I have always wondered why he left at that point in his career. Did Father Time tap him on the shoulder and tell him his career was up, or was it the club physio?

The last game I saw him play was at Loftus Rd was for a Testimonial.
During the match he played a long diagonal pinpoint pass from our own penalty area to the feet of one of our strikers,he turned to the crowd lifted his right leg and kissed his boot as a symbol of “I still got it”

He could pass the ball as well as Glen Hoddle. Indeed, arguably without Tony Currie setting the standard for a kind of footballing quarterback of being able to hit an inch perfect 40-yard pass, there would have been no Hoddle.

Did TC feel he got the credit he deserved? Or was he under-appreciated?

Did Rangers swashbuckling style make a natural fit for players like him?

Also, how did he get on with Gary Waddock? Thought they made an excellent pair, Waddock the water carrier, Currie the ball spreader. I remember in the Paddock one day Waddock started to get ideas and after winning it, looked up as if to launch the ball, at which point TC bellowed across: "Oi Waddock - give me that f*cking ball." Which of course Gary did, almost saluting as he did so.

How did Tony do that trick where he seemed to run off without the ball, only to have it magically dragged forward by his trailing foot?

Ha ha - even now, I wouldn't feel that unhappy at being abused by the great TC while going about my business on my current stamping ground of Athlone. You should write an article for us Irish Rs, Myke.

Currie's wife wanted to return to London. We had just put together the makings of a very good team, he liked the look of it..btw, he was a Cricklewood man, very familiar with us. Never heard him declare an allegiance of a boyhood following, though I'd put a bet on being a Spurs fan.

I listened to a podcast that was interviewing TC. You won't like this, but as a boy his team were The Pensioners & Jimmy Greaves his hero.

There wasn't much discussion about his time with Rangers apart from his testimonial, but he gave great praise to my favourite all time player, Stewart Scullion. They played together at Watford & Sheffield United & couldn't understand how he didn't make (m)any Scotland appearances. He compared him to Jimmy Johnstone & then "yea, that's why Scullie didn't play. He'd be on a 100 caps if he had played a little later"! They both also played for Chesham United but not at the same time.

Wasnt he a Tommy Doc signing? Would love to know more about the stories behind that short era of the club.

For a weird moment, I thought that was your dad, not TC, Clive - which would have been quite an achievement from beyond the grave. ;-)

It always surpises me when people I admire get old, even though we/they all do. Why is that, I wonder?

I remember TC giving me his autograph in the SA Road stand c. 1980 - he said not a single word, but looked on inscrutably at the game like a man contemplating his own death! (It might have been that abominable 0-1 defeat to Wrexham in front of 9,000.)

Very much looking forward to this one.
