Fulham - hard to take but benefit of the doubt Blackburn - hard fought though uninspiring against a team with no ambition Posh - awful really however you paint it after leading Sunderland - robbed by lino, but overall our attacking verve is lacking. This ‘nil’ has been coming and the boys look like they are losing belief. Willock looks absolutely knackered, Gray can’t find a way into any game, odubajo looks poor.
Bright spots were Dykes and Amos, but we look no more than an average side capable of beating anyone or losing to anyone from week to week. Loss to a buoyant Forest on a Friday, (what’s or record? Won 1 lost 20 on fridays?) is nailed on. Season hangs really on how quickly we can get out of this funk.

I’ve moaned about the lack of supply to the forwards but last night Charlie, Dykes and particularly Gray each had a very presentable chance and missed them all.
Two up front needs to be ditched. Dykes won header after header but Gray was always 20 yards apart from him. None of them complement each other.
There’s that constant gaping hole down the right, nothing gets done to confront the problem.
Maybe it’s time to ditch CF’s from the starting line up, fortify the right back position in a back four and play with a mixture of six attacking and defensive midfielders.
We can’t persist with this, it’s the managers job to come up with a solution.
Yes, Dykes won so many balls last night but most were then picked up by a Sunderland player. It was incredibly frustrating because I thought he played really well. Gray seems to spend most of the game gesturing where someone should have played the ball rather than actually anticipating where knock-ons might be going.

Problem is, you abandon 2 up front you've effectively decided Austin is your plan B and Dykes will be your man with Willock and Chair off him. Not the worst thing in the world by any stretch but I still think in certain games 2 up front will have its uses. One of the major advantages of 3 at the back is that it enables you to get a second body up front but not get overrun - admitedly that's very dependet on having the right personel behind them though and your back 3 have got to have the confidence to split and get tight when required, Dickie is a bit off with this at the mo.
As much as I want to agree with other posters and don't like digging any players out, I do think our wing backs are struggling. Kakay is all enthusiasm and work ethic but his touch and football brain feels off a lot of the time whilst Moses worked hard on the left but again his decision making lets him down - yesterday wasn't a bad performance by him, this is more a summary of his time with us. A bit more experience via Wallace on the left and something better on the right and I think we'd be a much more dangerous and compact team. Not sure Albert is the answer long term for wing back.

I wasn't a fan of the way we lined up last night (I'm also in the one up front camp, as it means Willock and Chair play further forward and can be a lot more effective). For all that we still created chances and even first half Gray should have scored one of his two opportunities, plus the cutback that Chair put wide.
We were always going to have a lean period like this, but I didn't think it would happen so early (was expecting it to happen more around Christmas/New Year/Afcon).
If Warbs persists with two up top, then we'll continue to be exposed. I hope he sees sense and throws another body into the middle.
That would presumably free Chair and Willock to roam more behind a battering ram striker (Dykes).
Odubajo is looking more and more like the Sheff Wed calamity man, with every performance. He's a bomb scare.
I thought Amos's energy and industry was great, but he was (understandably) blowing after 65 mins.
Gray is carrying too much timber and Austin is ineffective without service.
I'm really worried about Forest on Friday. I think we'll get pumped.

I'm not sure, I thought that he should got that on target. He found space and time in the box, and he's tried to hit it too hard, rather than just making sure it's on target. Spaffed might be a bit strong, but I think an on form Charlie gobbles that chance up.

We need width, particularly if we're playing two up top. Ultimately we're a bang average side that had a decent run at the end of the season because there was nothing riding on it. Same as we've been since we were relegated.

Under no pressure, ball at a good height and the entire goal in front of him. Only needed to direct the ball on goal, but lashed it over. Should be scoring those all day long. Symptomatic of his current form and a few others.
Not one for having a go as I love where we’re at, but the old “need to be more clinical” adage defo applies to the number of opportunities spaffed last night.

In a rut? yep and we've been in gawd knows how many ruts over the five bloody decades I've been supporting us, as I see it it's all eyes on Warburton now to sort it out, no moping about get on the training pitch tomorrow and get to work. Tonights result is history. Small crumb of comfort for me is a quick glance at the league table where we happen to be in a good position, we have to use that as a bonus because that is what it is. Win on Friday night and we're equal 4th in the Championship, If that's not an incentive then I don't know what is. Get up and go again.
I agree Ted. Basically other managers have sussed us out. They know our weaknesses and (unless your name is Tony Mowbray) have a real go. Yes we are a potent force going forward (Despite our misfiring 'experienced' strikers), but now most managers have figured out they will out-score us instead of the other way round. So it's now time for Warburton and his coaching staff to figure out a new way. Whether that is a new system, new personnel in different positions, or a less predictable, more direct style of play or something I haven't even thought of, it is time for Warburton to earn his corn.

Basically, a few players are not playing as well as they were at the start of the campaign. There have been quite a few basic errors and just errors that have resulted in goals against. That has resulted in loss of confidence and confidence in a football team is massive especially how we play. Maybe MW needs to tinker a bit with our style of play depending on who we play. I don't like 2 up front.
Like Hunter, I have faith in the Team, and by that I mean everyone at the Club. We have a long way to go yet but the signs are still good. I still believe that we will be in the play-off places at the end of the season and anything less is failure with the players we have and the players that we have seen play so well for us over a period of time.
No 'rut', just a loss of form and confidence - it will return.

Pre-WBA we were pretty quick in possession, trying to get forward and give it a go. Then we went to WBA, got a lucky goal and tried to Preston it for 89 minutes instead of going for the kill.
Since then it's got slower and slower, more side to side across the back four. Go back to how we played against Bournemouth - they're runaway leaders and we should've come away with a point.
