Irish Rs - What's it like outside? 10:38 - Dec 7 with 3846 viewsMrSheen

Just escaped from Kerry myself last night. Seems like the worst is yet to come. Good luck out there.

It's ok in Cork City, Sheen - in fact the sun is out at the moment - but I think further West and North will get it worse.

Our school closed in Roscommon today but so far it's grand. We had a sprinkling of snow during the night but turned to rain by dawn. Wet, windy and miserable - normal in other words

All schools were closed in Dublin. Earlier this morning it was cold, wet and very windy and I thought to myself "you wouldn't put a dog out in that". I heard from a colleague that there were power outages around Portmarnock. It has calmed down now, but I believe the west coast will be hit again later today.

Wherever we were, and there was a horrible combination of gale force winds and heavy rain, my Dad (from Kilkenny) would always comment: "It's like this in the west of Ireland 3 days a week. The other 4 days are terrible!"

Anyone fancy a quick trip up and down Croagh Patrick?

Get a move on and we'll grab a few beers in Staunton's Pub when we get back down.

Young Master Boston is currently building a supermarket in Galway. Tells me though calm now, it was pretty crappy this morning, bad enough he/they didn’t work. Good excuse to stay up all night watching the Pats😀

Hello All, First time posting on here, although some of you will know me from the Not606 forum where I have the dubious pleasure or is that honor of being one of the moderators!!!!!

Anyway a report from the sunny South East where today it's anything but sunny....... the rain has been coming in horizontal and we have very high seas pounding the prom in Tramore which is closed to all traffic......

We're also expecting coastal flooding in the low lying areas when we have high tide this evening......

All in all a day to stay in doors and as it's already wine o'clock somewhere in Europe might as well crack open a bottle......

Stay safe.....

Stayed just outside Belmullet last week, and the place I stayed in nearly blew away in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Me and my bottle of Powers were fortunate to make it through the night.

Spent many a summer in Tramore. Beautiful beach, but like many coastal towns in England it seemed to have got quite run down when I last visited back in August.

Some great memories though

Welcome aboard, Tramore.

I've surfed around that area a lot. Maybe not today, though!

Most of my family including the old man are from Roscommon.
Being travelling back to there for the last 30 odd years, 20 of those with the missus. We usually go around August time and in all those years I reckon we've managed two days which have had a cloudless sky!
We usually fly to Knock which is runway sitting in a permanent cloud. Still loving going back regardless of weather!!
In Cambridge staying over for work. It's hammering down and brass monkeys to boot!!

Ryanair are flying in and out of Kerry today, it seems, that will be exciting. I guess how passengers are supposed to get in and out of the airport isn't their problem.
