Nedum on the QPR pod 21:22 - May 15 with 4173 views | davman | Great interview by Chris Charles and Paul Finney this week. I am a big fan of Ned's pod and can listen to him all day. Coherent, concise, insightful, warm, intelligent and seems v honest. As opposed to last week's slightly painful Charlie Austin love in (I get it guys, he WAS a legend first time round and to an extent last season and he and his wife do wonderful things off the field, but he was God awful this season and none of you asked him why!), the Nedum interview ahead of his book coming out on Tuesday is a must listen. Clearly warm about his 6 1/2 seasons at the club and paints an appreciative picture of his time with us, but puts a few snippets in there which will need to be followed up by reading the book. He also made a telling statement about what the future holds for QPR: "The team is about to get much younger and the club want to start a rebuild". Paul and Chris did a great job this week - well done boys! [Post edited 16 May 2022 0:04]

Nedum on the QPR pod on 11:00 - May 16 with 3616 views | Antti_Heinola | Yes, I love the pod, but I found the Austin one a difficult listen. I honestly cannot see how anyone could watch him in the season just gone and think 'he deserves another year.' I love Charlie and always will, and I was willing him to do well this season. But he didn't. If his name was Macauley Bonne and he'd just had the exact same season, not a single QPR fan would even argue he should have another year. I feel for Charlie - something is not right in his body, he looked like he was runnng through treacle sometimes, and at others his touch was appalling (as he even acknowledged slightly on the pod). I don't care how much less he would've signed for, we can't keep him on because he loves the club. Ned, on the other hand, had the misfortune, I think, of being part of a side mostly despised by QPR fans. Actually, you could never fault his effort, work rate or honesty, and was a really good, underrated defender for us. Richard Dunne gets tons of plaudits, but the fact is that prootion season he was not great the second half of the season (until the final!) and Ned and Clint were our best defenders. A real leader and proper captain. Had he joined at almost any other time in our history, he'd be much more fondly remembered than he is by some fans I think.

Nedum on the QPR pod on 11:18 - May 16 with 3568 views | LazyFan | Agreed Ned was awesome, in many times a poor team. I remember some cup game, where it went to pens and Ned was organising it all of who was taking what and the younger players were following him around hanging on his every word. Most of the players liked him and his nickname of Chief was not a joke, plenty of the young'uns saw him as a leader as well.

Nedum on the QPR pod on 12:55 - May 16 with 3387 views | Phildo | He is a very impressive figure - you suspect he would have been successful in life whatever he went into. He tends to talk about his experiences at QPR in very mixed terms and does not use we or us when referring to the club generally. I do not think he rates the club hierarchy too much.

Good post here , I watch him on the ESPN FC American broadcast and he is very calm and informative just like when he was our Captain. Very occasionally he will say something about QPR but the boys on ESPN refer to him as City TV jokingly . He does appear a bit nervous that Villa with the Liverpool connections could ruin it for City. With that back 4 looking so bad against Wesh Ham , Watkins and Ings could score a couple and Countnio could bang in a free kick too

That is exactly what City are counting on Paddyhoops a 5-2 win or something like that but even KDB is showing the strain of carrying that heavy load. Pep is cracking too IMO little hints at his interviews and not making changes Sunday like Foden etc. Still I watched Liverpool beat Chelsea and they are cracking under the load of another crazy schedule. The silver lining of QPR collapsing is not facing either of those 2 teams away it might be rough

seemed to imply a fair bit about our DoF. Love Les but then I was a fan of Jimmy Greaves back in the day until he told me to f*&k off for wanting to say hello as we were waiting for the hovercraft back to blighty. Have never wanted to speak to any of my heroes after that, find it best to remember them as I saw them Just ordered the book

Hmm, bright, articulate, principled ex-pro who’s seen the club from the inside doesn’t think much of LF. Hmmm, wonder why 🤔

Nedum on the QPR pod on 10:55 - May 17 with 2493 views | daveB | really interesting listen, personally thought he was wrong about the fine for that sending off at Hull, sticking up for team mates is one thing but running 20 yards to shoulder barge someone and get yourself sent off wasn't helping anyone. It's a very modern view to be exasperated at managers etc for having a go after a poor performance but can see what he means. Looking forward to reading his book

to be fair I had no problem with that, were 4-0 down, I think, and that was the only thing that made me smile all game compare that to a few years earlier on the same ground with Captain Barton getting him sent off early on during a pivotal relegation battle

Took a pay cut to stay with us at one stage, and not his fault what the club were willing to pay.

Perlease. I've nothing against Nedum but he's led a charmed life. Average player, nice guy by all accounts, reasonable pundit (smart if a little boring), but let's not paint him now as some modern day Nelson Mandela. If you want to understand the effects of racism, I'll happily enlighten you. [Post edited 17 May 2022 23:16]

You are right, it's not his fault what the club paid him. And I guess you can apply that same logic to every other footballer. I just remember he got cut a lot more slack then the other players at the time. My point was he wasn't very good for the money we paid. Same as all the others at that time.

Nedum was still being very well paid and we had to cut costs, the club offered him a deal (admittedly pay as you play) and he turned it down, this is only natural in football as a player ages and especially if a club is trying to work to a budget.

This and the fact nobody else wanted him at anywhere close to the money we offered
