Before I open the link, is this the first time the keepers report is going to be bigger than the strikers?

One thing about Dieng, we didn't miss him throughout January - so I don't think he was as big an issue when he was out injured

i think we got a bit lucky in Jan, and you can usually cover for a player over a short period of time. We badly missed him in the long term.

Bare bones.

I think we covered him adequately in January, but still missed him. Marshall made brilliant saves against Coventry and Boro, two games we really should have lost, and then obviously he went completely the other way and started making mistakes. We beat West Brom who were tanking at the time with an offside goal and outstanding display from Barbet. Swansea and Reading were fcking crap.

True, but looking at the stats of shots stopped I think it shows there was a completely different team in front of him than Dieng had for much of the season. That isn't all down to different styles of distribution.

One thing Dieng could learn from Marshall would be quick throws to set up a counter attack.

What I'm curious about is, would we have signed Westwood if Walsh had still been fit? Walsh had at least played some matches with the senior team already, whereas Murphy hadn't (at least I don't think he had?)

I would hope not but suspect so.
Walsh actually has eight senior apps for Gillingham so it might have been that we wouldn't have been allowed Westwood if he'd been fit.

The million dollar question is will Dieng be standing in our net opening day in July / August or we will be in massive trouble IMO.
Loved that reaction when Mahoney wandered out for his debut and trying to imagine how nervous he was I can see how you were emotional .I thought the team really threw their bodies on the line for him that day at least and it made me proud. After that it went back to disappointment, irritation anger etc.

I think he'd have played Walsh at that point. I even think he *might* have played him in Jan.

Bare bones.
