As said at the time, be careful what you wish for !!!

There needs to be context on these things. Stats alone don't tell even half the story.

The second half of year two was a huge overperformance, but was never realistically sustainable. Warbs was a victim of that success.

Yes, the target was, understandably, to challenge for playoffs, and I'd say we did that.

We all know the circumstances that led to the end of season collapse, and it's simply not fair to pigeon-hole it as one specific thing.

Progress was there for all to see. Players developed. Style of football implemented. More of an identity created.

I'm not sure how anyone can say, with a straight face, that we haven't progressed under Warbs.

I'm not saying we haven't progressed since Warburton took over but we defintely haven't since January and I don't see how Warburton would change that having seemied to have burnt too many bridges

For me I think Warbs had to go. Unfortunate or not it was never going to get better with him in charge.
Have we progressed under him... possibly. But we are all old enough and ugly enough to know if you are at loggerheads with the bosses there is only ever going to be one winner. It is accepted to a degree if you are achieving results and serving the cause.... but by disagreeing with the management you are always on borrowed time, and they are always looking for a reason to dismiss or not renew.
In the real world there are procedures that need to be done, and to sack or dismiss someone in real time is quite difficult, the crazy manic world it is not. All managers know this and I'm sure Warbs as forgotten about QPR already
Do I trust the management to make the right appointment.... not really, we are notorious for getting it wrong were they right to sack/dismiss Warbs.... debatable, but if he was not conforming to the business plan then what option was there
Will I be there next season.... unfortunately yes I will.
Ahem we start again

But surely its the job of the DOF to make sure the manager is sticking to the plan and not just allowing him to get his own way all the time.

If the manager is just going to get what he what's then there is no point having a DOF

I believe MW wouldn't have had his contract renewed even if he had miraculously got us promoted as the board would have wanted a 'Premier League' manager. The run of poor results from February onward just made the decision easier.

You may have answered your own question there.... they haven't and not renewed his contract
As said in my OP while your delivering results most companies will allow a little leeway but that will soon change once things dip, and if your aggravating the board which seems to be the case here, they will act
If it is true that he was offered a striker or advised to get one, then he really did leave himself open if he decided not to act on it. And we have to be honest those last 3months were horrible for the team.

Progression yes but a lot of wasted opportunities imo , not just in the league but the cups as well
We had to play a dog Sh1t Sunderland side to get into the Quarter finals of the league cup and bottled it and then had to play an awful Peterborough team who dumped us out of the fourth round of the game cup when we would have been on national tv in the next round
A very wasted season imo

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

No idea what went wrong but with a chance of making the play-offs why did the team turn in such a piss poor performance at Stoke?
That game (dare I say, one of many) indicated there were issues within the group.

Good point to raise about how much notice the board takes...

I was thinking, a lot of the speculation about managers is completely baseless, yet people get so carried away with it.

The answer is - or should be - zero. our job is to support the club not try to influence change

But it was not irreparable. Everything smelled of roses up until January and then possibly the management team got anxious when things went against us and quite probably with a bit of extra pressure from the board we started playing too much possession football which accentuated our downfall.

But like I say, I believe any friction between the players and the DOF/Ramsey and the management team was reparable and my preference would have been to repair rather than demolish and rebuild.

Injuries

Easy to type but the facts don't back that up. The terrible run started and included plenty of games BEFORE Willock and Dickie got injured.

We also had a tremendous Jan - 4 wins, 2 draws, WITHOUT Seny and Illias.

No disrespect but that "dog Sh1t Sunderland side" looked top 6 championship to me. Maybe we made them look that way but next season might say otherwise.

Plus we did score a goal which our little friend thought was a number 47 bus going the wrong down a one way street

Genuinely interested to learn how the OP feels now given the new incumbent.

I can answer that.

I personally was very disappointed we got rid of Warburton. Thought he has been a very positive man for our club and great strides had been made in his time here.

Was very impressed at times.

Felt dreadful run of injuries led to a strange decline and getting nose bleeding when we were hitting dizzy heights.

Admittedly the decline was a shocker but at that time and I still feel another season with Warburton and we will definitely still be in and around the playoffs. I know many others may think different but will never know on that one.

This appointment certainly is very left field. Personally had never heard much about himself but a great deal of positive plaudits from people who have achieved in the game and his CV is about as good as anyone could get without being the top man.

Everything about this appointment does seem positive. But we won't know for real until end of season. Am hoping its a very positive step.

Not sure what's happening with Eustace. I would hope he could be part of the team also but I guess Beale may bring in those he may previously know.

It looks good Benny but we won't know until next May.

I think at best we will be where we would more than likely have been with Warburton ie around the playoffs but we can't know.

But like everyone I am a QPR fan and if we win the league by 20 points, no one will be happier than me...🤣🤣🤣

It's a quite extraordinary number of top references from very influential figures. Especially for someone who not massively known and it all seems almost too good to be true but like everyone it has instilled hope for myself also.

Whether that's false hope or ultimate glory we are yet to find out !!!

After all whatever happens we are QPR ..

IE Nothing is ever cut and dried...

Its June the 3rd. Please let me know our results so far. At least wait until in your opinion our results aren’t any better than they would have been under Warbs. Honestly 30 points off relegation and 9 points off the play offs plus a spectacular decline was that progress. Maybe given the context.
