Rail Seating for Saturday 14:17 - Aug 2 with 15966 viewsAberystwythR

Will the rail seating be ready for saturday? They have the whole loft down as sold out on the website which possibly suggests a couple of blocks are missing?

I was having a look and that entire section is unavailable. Couldn't get two seats together in the Lower Loft for me and my boy so won't be going unfortunately. Left it a bit late admittedly.

Seeing as they've removed a big chunk of the family stand, there is less scope to get a free under 8s ticket which seems a bit off to me. Am I missing something?

A free u8 ticket is a really generous privilege from our clubs owners given the amount they are losing each month to keep our club going, not sure they can be criticized if investing in rail standing for our teenage supporters reduces amount of free u8 tickets available.

Just a quick one, is there any reason you can't buy in another part of the ground?

As a new rail seat holder just be emailed to inform me it hasn't arrived.

The club is bitterly disappointed to inform supporters that rail seating will not be in place in the Lower Loft or R Block (Stanley Bowles Stand) ahead of our first home fixture of the season against Middlesbrough this weekend.

It had been our intention to install rail seating in both areas ahead of this game. It was communicated last week that it will not be in place in R Block and, sadly, due to ongoing supply issues, we are also unable to have rail seating in place in the Lower Loft for Saturday.

While this is completely out of our hands, everyone at the club is incredibly frustrated.

This latest delay means not only will we not have rail seating in place in the Lower Loft, we now have a situation where there is no seating in this area as works had started for their implementation.

As a result, the club is having to relocate supporters from this area for Saturday’s fixture.

As a season ticket holder in an affected Block, we are contacting you to inform you that your seat will be moved unfortunately. Season ticket holders will be moved to the best available seats in the Upper/Lower Loft. You will receive a digital ticket for the game by Friday. If you would prefer to sit in an alternative area within the stadium, please contact the Box Office who will be able to arrange this subject to availability by calling 020 8740 2613 or emailing boxoffice@qpr.co.uk.

QPR CEO Lee Hoos said: “I would firstly like to apologise to all affected fans.

“I have been left beyond frustrated by the challenges we have faced in the installation process of the rail seats, especially after receiving such positive feedback from supporters who are so keen to see them at Loftus Road.

“The rail seats left Turkey at the beginning of last month and there was no indication it would take this long to get them to England. It is a shame that on a day when we are celebrating opening the Stanley Bowles Stand, the atmosphere we were all looking forward to is not going to be what we had hoped. Let’s try to overcome this setback and get behind the team even more.”

Jon Darch, who as the operator of the Safe Standing Roadshow has been campaigning for safe standing for many years and now works part-time with QPR’s suppliers Ferco Seating, said: “I’ve campaigned for this for over 17 years and was delighted when Lee Hoos became one of the first club CEOs to publicly support the concept.

“It’s a huge shame that they won’t be in place for Saturday’s game. I’m sure fans in the Lower Loft and R Block of the Stanley Bowles Stand will soon be enjoying supporting the team from their rail seats, and will continue doing so for decades to come.”

Jane Shepherd, Managing Director of Ferco Seating, said: “As everyone in business, and even in our private lives from seeing gaps on some supermarket shelves, will know, getting goods from A to be B in a timely fashion has become much more difficult in recent months.

“Unfortunately, we’ve not been immune to those supply chain issues either. While we would dearly have liked all the rail seats to be in place and ready for use by now, those issues unfortunately mean that we’ve been beaten by the clock.”

We sincerely hope this issue will be resolved in the Lower Loft and R Block in time for our fixture with Blackpool on 16th August. However, as we are reliant on external suppliers, we cannot guarantee a date until we have the rail seats on site.

In fairness post Covid, post Brexit etc global suppliers not delivering on their contracted commitments is almost the new norm.

Far more infuriating than some of the nonsense flying around since Saturday - supply chains have been hampered since lockdown, exacerbated by the Ukraine war and the ripple effect on goods travelling around the world. Yet they order the seats only a month ago (edit: seats left a month ago, but you’d assume that was after being recently ordered…)

Why not the moment rail seating was agreed? Did we have to wait until we knew exactly where it was going to order it? If so why? Appreciate the answers to this could alleviate blame to an extent but feels a bit naive given the wider worldly situation

It's not like cat food - you can't go to a dozen shops to buy from a range of rail seating offers. Similarly, you can't assume they were ordered recently - the spec would need to be agreed, a supplier sourced, manufacturing supply lines to be agreed and delivery arranged.

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

It was only all agreed and announced at the end of May/earlyt June wasn't it
Really they wasted a few months not sorting out what they wanted last season sso they could get woirk started as soon as last season ended. Piss Poor really

I can't go on Saturday, is there an easy way to let the club know they can have my 2 seats in the lower loft for the Boro game?

I've received the same email today telling me that the rail seating is not installed but neither is there is no longer seating in place. However,, it goes on to say that because I am in Block ML (Lower Loft) I will NOT be relocated and will remain in my allocated seat. I'm confused!

And that couldn't have begun the moment they decided rail seating was go...? Further, if there arent that many rail seating 'shops' to go to that should make procurement choices quicker not slower (although that would also have a counter effect of less middle men etc)

Dont disagree with your caveats, just think it seems a bit amatuerish to be in a situation where you're waiting for infrastructure to arrive the month the season kicks off when it ended 12 weeks prior. This is the sort of off the pitch stuff that erodes credit and fuels toxicity which generates the ridiculous reactions we see to other things, in my opinion!

Genuinely wasnt sure so if this is the case then you'd be right. Either way as above, this is the simple stuff you can get right and build credit (like Jim Frayling has articulately said many a time about marketing, shirts, ticket sales etc). They dont help themselves

I don't really like how they try to turn it against us. 'This is what we thought you wanted' or similar.

I voted yes to rail seating. I think. I'm not that bothered about standing or sitting myself.

I got a similar email but they haven’t removed the seats from the metal block that is ML,so we are unaffected and still liable to get soaked in the front row there.

The Elizabeth Line seat covers were made here apparently

So we make rail seat covers but not the actual seats.

Anyone who makes or builds anything at the moment will sympathise and cut the club some slack.
I wouldn’t admonish them totally as if you have someone engaged to oversee this project they should be well informed on the risks and manage them accordingly.

I hear all the guff about Brexit (yawn), COVID (this has been with us nearly over two and a half years so not an unknown) and now Ukraine but in reality wrap em all up and say GLOBAL SUPPLY ISSUES.
Now there are many theorists out there saying a lot of this is the work of hedge managers exploiting these three factors to suppress supply and thus push up prices. I don’t doubt that’s not a thing.
The factors are wide and varied but good planning gets you round lots.

A lesson I learnt the hard way early in my career.
Was running a job at Brentside Primary School and we were appointed late for a decent price. I was a bit shocked but also pleased as it looked a good job, well priced and (most importantly) 5 mins from my front door.
We were refurbishing all the eight WC blocks, adjacent cloakrooms and some works to classrooms. Start mid July and absolutely do not fail to finish 5 September.
My decision was get in there rip the place out, get my drainage floats in and follow on with new WCs etc working in all 8 areas at same time.
Oh dear!
What I hadn’t realised was the whole of the UK would have similar school works going meaning the Junia WC Pans were as rare as Bonne being on side. The procurement leadin from order was 10 weeks. I’d already stripped all existing out and skipped…. I was cooked with nowhere to turn.
Learning experience for sure so I’ll never take the previous typical knowledge approach; specifics needed!!!

At the moment it’s a jungle.
I have suppliers telling me 6 to 8 week lead ins and the at the drop of an order it can increase to 20weeks plus price rises. Therefore the club not necessarily at fault here.

Maybe they needed to rip out certain blocks for open survey and could risk ordering off of drawings etc. who knowso

I just hope the areas are a success once done

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal
