Cook 100 and out 11:58 - Apr 20 with 14359 viewsKensalT

Cook to make his 100th appearance for us against Swansea then he's out the door

https://www.westlondonsport.co

I kind of expected it with us having so many young CBs but I wonder if we will come to regret it.

I wish him well for his next move.

Just listened to his video on the offish. Good luck indeed, what a great character!

I'm pleased the club have announced this so he can get a good send off. Haven't had a chance to watch his interview yet but it wouldn't surprise me if he has another year or 2 in him at this level yet. A few clubs around us or ones coming up could do a lot worse than having him in their squad.

Good luck Cookie. One of us.

I read somewhere he has his FIFA A licence, I’d sack Bould and give it to Cook.

Top man, Top Pro and a leader of men. A proper old skool centre half.

I do feel we are missing a trick not trying to agree a new one year contract on sensable wages.

I have a feeling we will be getting offers for Jimmy Dunne in the summer. I think Sheff Utd (or similar) will come back in for him. Wilder is a big admirer of Jimmy and we need a sale this summer. That would leave a massive hole at centre back and Cookie could fill that perfectly.

Anyway he leaves W12 with the utmost respect and thanks from everyone who had the pleasure of watching him play.

Not a bad suggestion but Cook has put in a good shift this season and I assume he wants to keep playing

His farewell message on x is brilliant. Gets it.

After three years, the time has come to move on from QPR.

In my career, I have been fortunate to win promotions and enjoy successful campaigns in the Premier League. But ‘success’ is relative. And my time at Loftus Road really highlighted to me what fans want from you as their player. It isn’t always about winning leagues, achieving promotion. It’s about giving absolutely everything for their shirt, respecting the badge and respecting the fanbase.

If you do that, proper fans will have your back. I have always seen QPR as a proper football club with proper fans – my time at Loftus Road confirmed it.

It is far easier to be a fan when things are going well on the pitch. But it takes a special fanbase to stand with you during the hard times. We have had three tough battles at the wrong end of the table. On each occasion, the QPR fans turned up when we needed them, stood with us and successfully helped us across the line.

To be named Supporters’ Player of the Year in my first season is something I will always be proud of, and to captain the club was an honour.

As a player, you want to leave a club in a better state than when you arrived. I feel I achieved that with the help of all the coaches and team-mates I have worked with over the last three years.

As I move on to the next chapter of my career, I want to say a huge thank you to the owners, the board, the management, coaches, staff and the R’s fans.

It has been one hell of an adventure. We have had ups and downs but I have loved the journey.

QPR will always have a special place in my heart and I wish you nothing but success in the future.

sad the last game is tomorrow in a half empty stadium rather than a full house at the weekend but that aside he's been a great player for us and will be really missed

They're very good leaving comments by Cook. He really does understand what clicks with football fans. He was a very good signing for us and will be missed.

Good luck Cookie.

Cook was at the end of his career when he joined but he still gave his best and generally was a bonus when he played. A 'proper' player on the pitch and I would suggest a 'proper' player off the pitch too......the young boys would do well to look how he behaves & represents himself & the Club.

Good Luck to him whatever he does & wherever he goes, a good lad.

Would be a Bould move by Nourryvirus to admit he was wrong in this appointment

He’s been a great signing for us and played a large part in keeping us up the last few seasons.

Saturday snowed the need for us replacing him with a slightly younger (and cheaper) version in the summer: his experience and standards during his time with us will be missed.

Great professional and excellent servant to the club and seems like a top bloke too. Steadied the ship during some really hard seasons with some important goals and brilliant defensive performances. Nice to see the club actually recognise a good egg for a change and acknowledge what he's done. I thought they were just going to let him go under a bit of a cloud at one stage when he wasn't even making the bench, but good to see they seem to be tying things up in a positive way. Publicly at least.

Clearly demonstrated his enduring qualities on Saturday. He’s been great for us, I’m sure he’ll continue to be, whatever he does next.

What a great interview. Seems to be exactly the person and professional that we would want around the place to work with the players - though in some ways I hope he can fulfil his preference to keep playing.

we've had a young squad in the last couple of seasons so his role as a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room shouldn't be underestimated

He’s been brilliant for us . Did we sign him under Gareth ?
Think we did and he’s proved a real leader for us .
I for one will miss him and I think he’ll be a future manager here.

Definitely the kind of character you want back as a potential future coach.

Never knowingly right.
