My dad used to referee non league and about 40 years ago as a young un he took me to watch a pre season tournament there that he was reffing. The only thing I remember about it was that there was quite a bit of niggle between the Farnham and Guildford teams (bit of a local derby it turns out!) and ended up in a big fight. He sent about 4 of them off, he always did like flashing a red card.

Does that count?

One of their midfielders Harry Cooksley was on our youth books books for a year (me neither) he also made 27 appearances for Pinzgau Saalfelden (me neither).

Saw a pre-season friendly there a couple of years ago. There must have been a Euro’s on the telly all summer as I remember it being great to actually be at a game - especially one where you could sup a cold beer on the terrace. It must have been the Rs Development Squad as it was literally men v boys. Farnham looked very handy especially at the back. Very well organised. They won 4-0. I remember there was a clock end with an actual clock. It looked more Trumpton than Highbury but still I took a few snaps and sent them to old Gooner mates.
