| New FFP rules for Championship from next season on 13:05 - May 15 with 6765 views | Hunterhoop | Wow. Amazed 20/24 voted in favour. Have the club confirmed which way we voted? This is “Squad cost”, so excludes coaches, youth, execs, non-playing staff? If we were at 98% (was that right?) with all of those of staff costs, we’ll probably be in and around the threshold, I’d guess, so hopefully we’re fine. But can’t give a club like us much wiggle room. The parachute clubs and Wrexham have an enormous advantage given their incomes. | | | |

Agreed that some of the wages wont count, but amortisation and impairment will.

Ah, so transfer fees (in and out) and the amortisation of this, is included? Makes sense. Just hadn’t realised. So if this had been in place this season just finished we’d have probably been in trouble. Makes big spending seem less likely this summer, certainly.
| New FFP rules for Championship from next season on 13:21 - May 15 with 6627 views | SteveCookFanAccount | My entirely uninformed take based on reading one article and googling our revenue last year, if we had a revenue of about £25m last year, plus a £10m owner contribution, take 85% of that is £29.75m on player wages and transfer fees (amortised), I feel like that's quite a lot compared to our wage bill, or am I completely misinterpreting it or using incorrect figures | | | |

As per our accounts, the total costs of all our staff, excluding “key management”, was £27.5m. Now, we need to deduct from that the staff who aren’t part of the squad (a lot of people, but much lower annual costs per head). But it sounds like we need to add in the transfer fees (well, with amortisation, what we accounted for in year). Presumably we need to deduct off what we recovered in fees for players sold? Either way, the season the accounts were for, the one before last, would still presumably be tight, as would the season just finished, because we have net spent on transfer fees and squad costs will be a very large proportion of that 27.5m. I reckon we’re probably under the 85% cap with the additional owners £10m investment. But I doubt we have much room to increase the wage bill and net spending.
| New FFP rules for Championship from next season on 13:49 - May 15 with 6433 views | stevec | Makes more sense as the club should be able to work out their position before the start of any season plus they’ll also have the wriggle room of the owner throwing in £10 million, which might come in handy if you find yourself in January with a chance of promotion. Basically means you can lose as much money as you want so long as your player costs don’t exceed 85% of your income. Given player costs are the number one expense that is unlikely to be an issue. Got to be better than sweating on losses accumulated over three rolling years although it wouldn’t be a surprise if we make a mess of this. | | | |

| New FFP rules for Championship from next season on 14:46 - May 15 with 6141 views | R_from_afar | I've banged on about this endlessly, but basing the rules on revenue is quite simply unfair. It works in favour of the larger clubs and requires the smaller clubs to do more with less, unless they happen to have an alchemist within their organisation. Grrrr . A fairer approach would be to have a maximum spend which is the same for all clubs. | |

you'll probably see deals like in the Prem when Newcastle spend daft money on a player from Forest and sell one of theirs to Forest for equally daft money to pass the rules

does management and his team cost also not become part of it as well ?

I think the £10m is after the 85% of the salaries so that would be £31.25m on your figures so more headroom.

| New FFP rules for Championship from next season on 16:14 - May 15 with 5658 views | SimonD | A couple of things I've seen on this are 1) the allowable equity is based on 25% of the difference between year 1 parachute payment and the standard Championship solidarity payment. 2) the profit on players sold will be 85% of the average of the last 3 seasons. We really need to see the regulations to be sure. | | | |

If I understand correctly, point 2 there f*cks us, doesn’t it? Because we haven’t sold much, certainly not net of transfer fees spent in the last 3 years…

The wealthy clubs, and because they’ll be a glut of supply, they’ll be able to buy at lower prices than usual. I am surprised 20/24 clubs in this league voted for this. Blind optimism in their own competence, thinking they can outdo their neighbours?

I agree, Brian, but don't expect that to happen. Maybe at the next Fans Forum a question will be taken on this but even then, would Nourry give a straightforward answer?
