I think every other person in Birmingham was walking round with a Villa top on this evening. I was getting the train back from Telford where I work last night and there were hoards of them heading into the city to watch the game in various venues last night, and again this afternoon for the open top bus thing - usually lots of Wolves colours around Telford. Don't know if it's because Villa remind me of Man U, Chelsea and Tottenham, or I've got an unconscious bias against premiership teams (except Everton, my original team growing up on Merseyside), or I've just got a good connection with Birmingham City and West Brom friends up here who understand how tough our league is, but it was making me well grumpy today. Can't wait to be back down Loftus Rd after the summer break.

Saw a bloke in a villa top wandering around Rustington this morning. Makes a change from the usual Man Utd/Liverpool shirts

Poll: Shamima Beghum

One of my good pals is Villa, we are both random as live up in Malton/Scarborough. Went to his local to watch it, they made an effort for him as he’s a popular fella and everyone supporting Villa. Really nice atmosphere. It reminded me of European football in the 90’s when we allowed back in and supported the English clubs. Well most of the time anyway.

My father-in-law (David) and my wife were/are both Villa fans.

We have footage of David celebrating a win at Wembley for the 1957 FA Cup.
So on the 11th anniversary of his passing, it was fitting for him that they won some more silverware.
If there is an afterlife I hope he was watching.

Absolutely. Always liked them apart from some serious “afters” back in ‘68 at Villa Park
Good luck to ‘em.

To be fair yes they've got a decent stadium - missed a trick starting extending it last week and missing out on tens of thousands of fans paying to watch the game there on big screens. I think my deep seated animosity stems from the league cup final - think it was '77. My uncle took all the nephews (all Everton fans) to Wembley for the final, which was a draw. That was my first ever game - never thought then I would end up a Loftus Rd regular. Are we all Everton fans tomorrow hoping they smash Tottenham?

Lived in Birmingham long enough to heavily dislike both Villa and Birmingham. Admittedly if you spend enough time there you hate everyone including yourself.

I’m friends with quite a few. They aren’t armchair glory hunters.

Was with a Villa fan watching Gary Newman when our Eze inspired team beat them, when I’d been expecting a pasting. On Thursday I went to see Kraftwerk on my jack Jones - the two Villa supporters I was going with cancelled as they were getting back from Istanbul.

After they beat us 3-0 at Highbury, crushing, i wore an ‘I hate Villa’ badge on my school blazer lapel. It was one of those badges popular at the time with the graphic of words sprayed on a brick wall. A few years later played them in the league cup there and lost 1-0. Train home decorated with broken glass and bricks. Cold ride back.

Went to the 2-2 leg at Villa Park and sat next to the holte end. My god what a terrace that was. Apparently taken by Glasgow Rangers a few weeks before. It’s a great staduim.

Don’t mind them these days a bit like Spurs but back in my youth. Absolutely not.

Always have a good home kit design as well. Pleased for them.
