Stanley Dee....musically supertight and accurate. Lead singer is no Donald Fagan by any stretch, nor does he try to be, but it's a great night.

Rollin Stoned. Pure camped up madness but with proper musicians who play faitheruflly - a proper beer-fuelled night out.

Both play at the Half Moon a couple of nights a year...always sold out.

Poll: Kitchen threads or polls?

Not a tribute or covers band in anyway but Monkey House openly base their style on the aforementioned Steely Dan. Donald endorses them. Five albums, only one of which not quite up to par.
Brilliant.

I think Nearly Dan may give them a run for your money. Saw them at The Bush Hall once 😉

Absolutely fantastic.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

I kid you not but we saw The Hamsters live years ago, they done a Jimi Hendrix set then a ZZ Top set, they were nailed on really nailed the gig at The Corn Exchange, Newbury.
I normally wouldn't bother with that sort of thing but I'm glad we went.

My Father had a profound influence on me, he was a lunatic.

Years back, I was in a band that entered The Whitbread Search For A Star. Mostly tribute bands.
The heats were in the Pavilion.
The woman running it said “oh, Colin, would you like to introduce the boys in the band ?”
I said “no, they already know each other”
Yer wouldn't have thought it given the performance.

Probably the two best I've seen were Whole Lotta Led and Hells Bells who were absolutely brilliant Zeppelin and ACDC covers bands.

Voting just closed in the all-important Makerfield by-election.
I was trying to complete my country album “Bakersfield to Makerfield” but no luck.
Well, we'll get the result tomorrow.

A band called malice were very good. Saw them in a packed half moon, Putney, and caught Covid in there, a month before lockdown was even announced as a thing.

That didn’t get on news at ten.

The Analogues.

Reproduce live The Beatles using only equipment that would have been available during the years the albums were released.

Saw them at London Palladium- really excellent

Living in rural France we don't get any name bands. Local (12 kms) bar has put on a whole series. Last year we had a Pink Floyd, U2 and Simple Minds. This year we've already had Stoned, French Stones cover. Upcoming are Foo Fighters and Pink.

We've seen Australian Pink Floyd 3 times. Excellent. And Dire Straits Experience, with the original sax player from the real Dire Straits.
Also saw Coldplayed, a French tribute, who were pretty good.

Aussie PF probably the best.

Dirty DC are excellent: saw them last year in Southend and they had a decent Bon vocalist as well as their long serving Brian vocalist.

Just discovered these guys and gals a few weeks ago. Not really a dedicated tribute band but wow!
Earth Wind and fire.

And Chicago.

Elvana

Top drawer live
I had to copy their description from Wiki as it's a hard one to explain

"Elvis-fronted Nirvana is a British crossover tribute band which performs the music of American grunge band Nirvana in the style of an Elvis impersonator."

The night I saw The Smyths at The Ship in Kilburn (QPR fan John Mc used to run the place) the band were celebrating the fact that as of that night, they had outlasted The Smiths!

I think they've broken up now, but they were brilliant.

Poll: Who should do the Birmingham Frederick?
