Get yourselves checked, people. I'm sure there's loads of us here heading for or already in the age danger zone for prostate cancer. Ask for a PSA test next time you're at the doctor, and don't be fobbed off.

If you are unlucky and get a high result on the PSA, I read somewhere that you should try and persuade your GP to authorise an MRI scan.

I've been having PSA tests about every two years since my forties, so far the results have been okay. It's disappointing that they aren't automatic like the bowel cancer test and you have to ask every time.

I’m 61 and have had long standing problems but any tests I’ve had have have come back negative.
Likely be having an op in the near future to reduce the size of the old bugger.
I won’t go into details but it ain’t clever.

I got tested/examined by a Doctor at the hospital In Oxford, basically I had all the symptoms and sitting there In the waiting room with cancer sufferers to get examined aint great and somewhat humbling.
Got the examination, Doctor tells me to sit down and straight away say's you have a badly deformed prostrate that Is causing pressure on your bladder causing your bladder to malfunction. (Sometimes the pain was unbelievable).
Got prescribed tablets and I also have a catheter fitted to my bladder which Is an awful thing to have fitted but without It I wouldn't be here.
I had an operation provisionally booked for this Summer but that's been put back Six Months because of the Sheer weight of numbers In the queue, I'm okay with that I'll wait my turn.
I've said this before so kill me If I'm sounding boring but the Doctors/Nurses and staff at the Hospitals In Oxford (Churchill and John Radcliffe Hospital) are very special People.

You walk down the corridor of the hospital and see NHS signs saying please refrain from abusing our staff and you wonder WTF is wrong with People.

Enough already get yourself checked.

I have mentioned before , I had a procedure called REZUM for an enlarged prostate about 3 years ago . They basically reduce the size by blasting it with micro jets of steam My PSA was only 0.22 so very low but all the symptoms of a problem . It’s been a very slow recovery and I still take some meds but the benefits have been worth it despite a week with a cathe ter snd s kidney stone along the way. Good luck to any of you with ongoing problems and as been mentioned get yourself the blood test .

Glad you had a good experience at the JR. I can't say the same, one of the consultants when my mother was dying there was an absolute cu nt.
