My dad and I reckoned we were unlikely to get beyond the QFs when the tickets got a bit pricey.

Went to the Uruguay game as an 8 year old with my family. Nice opening ceremony in which one of the neighbours from our road in Acton took part - but the actual match was a fairly mundane 0-0 draw.
Remember seeing the Argentina game, with the Rattin sending off, on another neighbour’s black and white TV.
Saw the final on my grandparents’ black and white TV at their house in Broadstairs whilst on summer holiday with them. Still remember as clear as day my shock when Germany’s last minute equaliser went in – everyone thought we had won it in normal time.
What with Rangers winning the league cup the following year it felt like a time when nothing could go wrong. | | | |

I was there. Had the 'season ticket' bought in a newsagent/prowse shop in East Acton for, if memory serves, £3 17/6. Final ticket 10 bob. Went to all the England games but not all the other qualifiers.
Also at the 67 final.
Thought it was always going be like that.
