Watched him for Brighton before looked the complete RB. Usual Rangers rules apply, wouldn't be with us if there wasn't an issue - local lad too which is nice. Could be a huge addition and I'm very excited by it!
| This year's out of the blue signing - Tariq Lamptey on 10:15 - Jul 21 with 13663 views | MKQPR | When fit a great talent but very injury prone. Missed nearly 140 games through injuries over the last 5/6 seasons. Fingers crossed his load can be managed and we have a gem of a RB | | | |
| This year's out of the blue signing - Tariq Lamptey on 10:17 - Jul 21 with 13605 views | Hunterhoop | Interesting. Anyone know what happened at Fiorentina? He terminated his contract there by mutual consent in May having been signed last summer for €6m. He tore his ACL soon after joining, so didn’t play much, but still odd for him to want out and Fiorentina to just write off a €6m signing. He has a 100 games in the Prem over 4 years so you’d think will be a big upgrade at right back, but also may only play half the season due to injuries. If he’s not available for a while either that ACL was misdiagnosed and a lot worse than thought, he redid it, or he’s picked up some other long term knock. Either way, as a shot to nothing (free signing) hopefully on similar to Celar, it’s a good move. | | | |

Contract terminated by Fiorentina. ACL injury on his full debut. Played 25 minutes last season! https://talksport.com/football Let's hope he gets his mojo back [Post edited 21 Jul 10:32]

According to this he's 5 ft 7 inches (175 cm) https://fbref.com/en/players/f Giant of a man!

If he recovers then we just got an absolute steal, if he doesn't then we only lose the wages. I know that that's not nothing but we have trimmed a lot of wages so far this summer so hopefully we have a little to play with.

That's a pretty cynical spin overall: most would find the positives easily outweigh the possible negatives in this signing.
| This year's out of the blue signing - Tariq Lamptey on 10:26 - Jul 21 with 13326 views | 89_50 | Lot of ifs, buts, and maybes, but a fit Lamptey could be a massive pick up and huge improvement at RB. I want to temper my expectations for this season, but the club are making a lot of smart moves this summer. | | | |
| This year's out of the blue signing - Tariq Lamptey on 10:26 - Jul 21 with 13320 views | BAWHoops | Awful injury record, but if go with the assumption he is going to be fit for about half the season then great. What we can't do is build the whole team around him and his pace and flog him into the ground by December. Don't need to see him until after that chunky international break in September really, then take it from there | |

I assume he'd be splitting time with Mbengue. Mbengue's is good enough that we have no need to rush him in at all, hopefully they can focus on getting him fit and ready.

The worst that could happen is that we waste the cash paid to him in wages if he doesn't. Surely the club would have carried out due diligence on probable recovery & the financial cost.

Yes that makes sense to me. With maybe Lamptey playing against Southampton, Middlesbrough, West Ham etc and Amadou playing against the industrial teams and overall playing more minutes. It might work. It certainly gives us another option IF he can get fit. I remember years ago thinking he was a great little player when he broke through at Brighton.

Very easy to spin it either way. Let's see how he does on the pitch. If he can get back to anything like what he was it will be a great signing. Fingers crossed for him.

| This year's out of the blue signing - Tariq Lamptey on 10:44 - Jul 21 with 12962 views | dm97 | If there wasn’t something wrong with him he wouldn’t be here claxon Without injuries Brighton might be flogging him for £40m. So, he’s obviously very talented and will be a huge upgrade on current RB options. But 100 games over 4 seasons tells the story. Hopefully it’s a Field outcome not JCS, but for a free it’s a great signing. | | | |

He's had significant injuries throughout his career and if he is fit to play in September it will be a year since he has played a match. Its a gamble signing for us and the last chance for him. There's a reason why he's free and coming to QPR.
