Looking to get involved with Liverpool according to the FT.
| Amit Bhatia on 15:49 - Jul 21 with 7683 views | StevenageRanger | Looking to buy into Liverpool has just been announced. https://www.ft.com/content/c98 A consortium of investors led by Amit Bhatia and backed by the Mittal family is in talks to buy a significant minority stake in Liverpool Football Club, in a deal that would value the English Premier League side at more than $6bn. The investor group headed by Bhatia, the son-in-law of steel tycoon and billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, has hired advisers to work on the offer and is in active talks with Liverpool’s current US owners Fenway Sports Group, according to people familiar with the matter. | Amit Bhatia on 15:51 - Jul 21 with 7641 views | sprocket | that's a pity.... For some time I had hoped Amit would take take overall ownership of the club but alas that's not the case. Always the chance he comes back in sometime in the future but I wish him well and thankful for the time, money and commitment he has show to QPR. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Should be a given that it changes, especially if true that he's off to invest in another club.

TBF, despite all the "I'm in love with QPR my kids support the club etc" shtcik, he's had the opportunity on multiple occasions to do so and never been interested. Probably because he knows intimately what a bin fire it is for your cash. And lo, here he goes trying to buy Liverpool.

Quite. The owners, CEOs, players come and go. Only the fans that always stay.

Its behind a paywall but he is really moving up in the world getting involved with Liverpool. I suppose QPR are just such a money pit and even if they make it back up to the PL they would never have the name recognition of the big boys he moved on. How big an issue is this for us ,is there any fear the owners will stop bailing us out every year it has to be a discussion at least hopefully this does not hint at that

Very much a sliding doors moment in QPR history when Briatore turned down Mittal's offer for the club, and took Pony Tony's instead... Warnock in tandem with Bhatia and Sakhsena was set fair IMO. Oh well

| Amit Bhatia on 16:04 - Jul 21 with 7390 views | thehat | What a shame - With Amit we always had the financial security of the Mittal family. We really are now relying on just Ruben to bail us out financially. | | | |

The family can blow £billions without it making any difference to their life. So I guess it's more prestigious to blow £millions/billions being associated with Liverpool that little ol' QPR.
| Amit Bhatia on 16:17 - Jul 21 with 7142 views | 1BobbyHazell | The Mittals tried to buy the Seattle Seahawks recently but lost out. The new owners paid 9.6 billion dollars! I'm guessing Amit and the Mittals are on the hunt for a serious sports investment somewhere. | | | |
| Amit Bhatia on 16:17 - Jul 21 with 7145 views | DejR_vu | Did we? I may be wrong but I thought Ruben, as majority owner/shareholder, had the broadest shoulders on that. It always seemed to me that QPR was a plaything bought for him by family money of incredibly wealthy in-laws. Was he that committed? As has been suggested, he’s had the opportunity to buy the club but hasn’t. He was involved when we got promoted. Whoever appointed Warnock and allowed him to buy Taarabt should take credit for that. If it was him, that’s credit to him. But he’s also been here all the way through the train crash that’s followed for 15 years. He appeared to be front and centre in appointing Ainsworth after 10+ years at the club, It’s a shame but I would be far more concerned if it was Ruben walking away. | |

| Amit Bhatia on 16:24 - Jul 21 with 7015 views | stevec | I imagine they could have upped their offer if they really wanted the club. Am I right in thinking every loss has seen his shares diluted as only Ruben was willing to cover the losses? I’m not even sure in what capacity Amit’s been here for the past ten years. Perhaps waiting for Ruben to lose interest which, so far, hasn’t happened. | | | |

If Ruben walks away without someone buying him out then that will be the end of QPR [Post edited 21 Jul 16:24]
