Having watched our bi annual cup demises for over a decade whilst managers put out weak teams that don't try and we get humiliated, thank you Mr Hughes for making it worth attending the Walsall game,
Now, it wasn't a classic, not really very exciting but you knew that it mattered. You didn't feel like a mug who'd been conned out of your money by a bunch of players who didn't try.
Indeed, the crowd even sang a bit here and there, when do you remember that last in a home League Cup game eh?
Even though the crowd was only 6k, I'm sure we've had less than that for some of these games in recent years. All in all, this felt like a step forward.
