Dubai stop over (non QPR) 14:46 - Feb 13 with 1907 viewsericgen34

We're flying to Dar Es Salaam next week via Dubai with Emirates. Our stop over there is 11 hours, 23:30 to 10:30 the next day. I think a lot of you have been there, is it possible to get out of the airport, is there enough time to do anything nice, or should we just aim to find a nice place in the airport for a kip?

not certain you can get out of the airport - certainly don't shop in it. The Emirates business lounge is decent - choice of a few help yourself restaurants and the booze is free too.

Poll: Remy - can he play in the playoffs - who's opening post is the best?

Getting out of the airport is easy. They have a transit visa:-

Transit Visa

Transit passengers stopping at Dubai International Airport for a minimum of 8 hours are eligible for a 96-hour transit visa. A valid onward ticket is required

Passports or travel documents must be valid for at least three months.

Citizens of the following countries are not eligible for the 96-hour visa on arrival:
Somalia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Niger, and Yemen.
Transit visas for passengers arriving at Dubai and Abu Dhabi International Airports can be arranged by Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways for their passengers or by Marhaba Services for those travelling on other airlines. Marhaba Services Tel: 00971 4 2162657; 2164629

My daughter is on Mafia island, so that's where we're going.

We're flying Barcelona to Dar via Dubai, because Barcelona is only 3:30 drive from here and the flight €300 cheaper than any other from France, so given there are 4 of us, it's a massive saving.

Never been there, I absolutely can't wait! We'll be arriving on 25/2.

Sounds great, a tip though , get to passport control quick as you can have the 250 dollars for your visa handy and you should only have to wait about fifteen minutes, otherwise you could be there hours.
