Setting aside the Stoke opener 16:31 - Jul 28 with 3222 viewsbosh67

Is anyone else starting to think that if this set of players can stick to the playing style script that we may actually, after half a dozen games, start to surprise a few teams out there?

Warburton is criticised by many for bringing on his subs on 61/62 minutes like clockwork and that may well happen but the style of play, if the players get a bit of confidence could really catch some teams out. My only fear is keeping the back door shut but going forward we appear to be starting to move the ball a lot quicker and with purpose than I have seen for a few seasons. Nowhere near as much sideways indecision.

I like Amos and he has astounding pace which is useful for the role he plays but there is a little bit of pace and purpose starting to creep into this lot. I hope that even if we suffer a few initial defeats or set backs (we may not) that given time with an almost completely new team with a few familiar faces that this may be the freshen up we have been waiting for. And on a much tighter budget.

What would be nice, although it seems like a vain hope these days, would be for Warburton to have s decent run.

Not seen them yet but I’m hearing words like ‘pass’ and ‘move’ mentioned and all in the same sentence.

What is this sorcery?

Even those fans who have been to every pre-season game must be unsure of how we'll do this season.
We've added pace and youth, while bearing down on the wage bill. We may lack the nous and physicality in key positions. It will be interesting to see if Mlakar and Hugill can score the goals we will need, because it is difficult to see too many coming from elsewhere. BOS still can't hit a cow's backside with a banjo.

At this stage, I'll be happy if we can find 3 teams worse than us. But, if it all gels, then we could surprise a lot of people.

I do still worry that we get opened up a bit too easily and will concede more than we should. And I'm still not sure where the goals will come from, so I have a feeling that many games will finish with us coming away with results that we feel didn't merit the performance that we put in.

That said, if the rest of the division do under-estimate us then I do think we will surprise a few teams here and there. As long as the fans remember that staying up has to be the objective this year and anything beyond that is a bonus.

If we as a fanbase are patient and supportive of this group of players then they may pleasantly surprise even us:)

If you’re into QPR expecting success and great football I’ve got bad news for you.

Some of the rankest sides to ever tread on that glorious pitch have given me the most enjoyment. If someone would have told me in July 2001 that Steve Palmer would be captaining my favourite QPR XI i’d have laughed in their face.

Enjoy the ride!

When we take a 'kick-off' the team actually dont hoof it out wide for Ainsworth, a tactic started when Wildthing was here and a tactic that has been implemented by every manager since

captains fantastic

I think we will finish tenth. Not bad really. I have seen Meaker destroy Arsenal, Scully volley in Oxford and Brock curl one in at the Dell. We will be good and bad and for the most part people will be happy. Happy days.

I think the first couple of months will be a real struggle. I think there will be a few encouraging performances but points will be hard to come by. But, we’ll have no choice but to persevere and we’ll improve and, hopefully, get enough points to see us over the line. If we can survive I think we’ll be in a far stronger position this time next year to go into a season with real optimism.

I’ve only caught one preseason so far but the squad has changed so much since that one. Even since yesterday’s game we have signed three likely starters. I’d be surprised if we hit the ground running but I’m up for surprises these days. I think our problem this season is what id call a soft under belly, that Barnsley on on a Tuesday night in February quality if you will. Again, happy to be proved wrong.

I'm really looking forward to the season now, after all the negativity of recent weeks with plenty of justification for that I went to game yesterday expecting the worst but was really impressed with how we played.

It's hard to read too much into a pre season game and we've all seen enough football and enough of QPR to know things can go wrong very quickly but with so many new players it feels like a fresh start I'm really excited to see how it pans out. The difference between the teams around the playoffs and the bottom 6 is not that huge imo. Millwall showed the other year a good run gets you right in there and we showed last year a bad run takes you from 8th to 18th very quickly.

No idea what to expect but i can't wait for it all to start

Confidence will be key. As we saw last season a bit of a run without a win, things going against you and uncertainty kicks in and the levels drop and the losing goes on and on.

Teams will press us more than Watford, especially as we try and play out from the back. We can't afford many dodgy moments. In pre season we have had a few 'close shaves', we may not be so fortunate when the pressure kicks in.

If we can have a reasonable start and all that pace, passing and comfortableness with the ball can be rewarded with a decent haul of points, then confidence will build, fans will be less critical and we can go on to have a decent season, maybe a very good one.

Great thread and good to see we are realistic about this coming season, a week ago I was expecting an ipswich type seasing with freeman et al leaving but with the latest incoming players feel we will survive, as others say it's going to be hard but hoping these playears under Warburton will pull a few surprises.just moved onto a new project in work and sit opposite a stokey, hope we turn them over , also a few bolton in the office and can't help feeling for those guys. By the by I'm on holiday in olu deniz turkey, qpr towel out and hoping to get the chance for a U Rs shout

I'm genuinely not sure how it will all work out and I guess I am a bit nervous that it will take some time to gel and that combined with a toughish start may mean some poor early results which dent confidence and get the natives restless.

Overall I'm pretty confident that there will be at least 3 worse teams than us. I do think it is important that we perform well at home and that should help underpin our safety.

It does all feel quite exciting though...

Have to agree with most of the above.

Think with 13 signings and 1 more to come anyone who is overly confident or pessimistic is just lying.

Impossible to tell how they will all gel.

One thing I'm not getting hung up on is 1 player or 1 position - doubt one of these players will play 46 games, so its all about the squad and if they can deliver MW's style of paly whilst, of course, picking up points along the way.

Aug 10th - I'm at Barnet U16s in the morning (on the line) and then straight off to KPFS - can't wait!

I was in Olu Deniz 2 weeks ago also had my QPR towell out each day around the pool and beach, for the first time in years I had no U R's shout. I had become quite accustomed to it each holiday

When I wrote the above in July I honestly didn’t think *not getting the result we felt we deserved* would sum up pretty much EVERY SODDING GAME.

But it doesn’t half feel like that at the moment:(

Nevertheless, still early days and positive signs. Patience still the key:)

Last two results have been unfortunate but broadly speaking I'm enjoying the direction of travel - we were far more threatening in the final third tonight just didn't take our chances

Really like Amos, but worry a midfield three of Amos, SMith and Cameron all want to sit too deep

I ve seen hudds and yesterdays game and the defence is still shambles. The rest of the pack seems to be ok. Some issues like finding the goal should fix themselves when the season goes on. Early days yet and when thinking that this lot was built during the summer and played together just couple of games i wouldnt be signing anyone off yet.
