Premier Clubs to move abroad ...eventually 21:15 - Aug 4 with 1338 views | coolranger | Talksport show with Danny Kelly suggesting Premier clubs could well move abroad in time in search of greater revenue potential. Could see a time when Premier clubs all have a 'second home' outside Europe where they play perhaps 4 of their home games. So for example ; Man City - Abu Dhabi Arsenal - Dubai QPR - Kuala Lumpur Liverpool - Boston Hull City - Singapore Crazy idea?

Premier Clubs to move abroad ...eventually on 22:13 - Aug 4 with 1147 views | kropotkin41 | Could only happen if the PL stopped relegating teams and promoting teams. The PL would have to be a league of franchises. Would be even worse than now, much better to hope that the bottom drops out of football's crazy finances and everything goes back in time about 40 years.

Agreed on franchises. I do think you'll see a professional American team (most likely NFL, but possibly Basketball) based in London at some point in the next 10 years, which theoretically would widen the possibility. More likely is the possibility of moving a tournament abroad. I can see something like the following happening: LDV vans trophy (or whatever it's called) abolished Premier League teams don't enter League Cup Mid season "break" in January January tournament in Asia (or wherever) for all Premier League teams. 4-5 games, knockout, spread over 2 weeks, winner gets place in Europe. Less rounds than the League Cup, so would if anything be slightly less games than they're already playing, suits Blatters plan for the "break" (which would still be two weeks) and season would only need to finish a week later than it does now.

Something that always puzzles me. If an increase in turnover (like with the new tv deal) was all going into the clubs pockets I could understand it, but the majority of it just goes to the players and agents. So why bother at all? Why do clubs get so happy about tv money when they know that in reality they will keep very little, if any, of it
