RIP Ray Galton 00:11 - Oct 7 with 1622 views | isawqpratwcity | Ray Galton, co-creator of Steptoe and Son (their yard was once a corro fenced plot in the cleared area around Saunders Grove - genuine Shepherd's Bush!) and writer for the luminaries of British comedy for a generation, has toddled off to join his writing partner, Alan Simpson. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/entertainment-arts-45771931/ray-galton-a-look-back RIP and thanks for the laughs. RIP Ray Galton on 05:26 - Oct 7 with 1535 views | thorpebankR | Done a job for a Mr Simpson in Sunbury a few years ago. In his garage beside his navy Rolls Royce were piles and piles of old bundles of paper tied up with string. Only dawned on me after it was Alan Simpson of Steptoe fame. Kicked myself for not having a chat with him about the show, presume the papers were his life's work.
RIP Ray Galton on 08:19 - Oct 7 with 1468 views | colinallcars | So Galton and Simpson both gone now. I am a great fan of Hancocks Half Hour and have all available episodes on CD and DVD. It's such a shame that the BBC taped over a lot of the radio series to save money, so many great episodes lost for ever. Over the years, a handful of episodes have emerged from home recordings and have been enhanced and made available, but highly unlikely any more will be found now.
