Dont know the answer to that but im worried we'll never compete to be a top club in london again. Goons, spurs, wham and the scum will all have 50k stadiums. We're getting left behind

Built for a rumoured £750M well over 10 years ago

Apparently they are recommending a bid for £600M gets accepted

Now I realise that purchasing price will come with freebies for the FA but in what part of this universe, with the perverse inflation on London land and property, is that right or good business?!?!?
Any wonder the beautiful game is such an ugly mess at the moment????

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

The FA only took ownership when it was rebuilt. Never owned a stadium before that, and nor do most national governing bodies around the world. Not sure what the fuss is about tbh - assuming the price is right.

Refunding the taxpayer should be the biggest concern.

I'm with you here to be honest. Provided we aren't losing a bomb, and retain the right to play there x amount of times a year, I'm up for it. I thought the games played around the country are far more inclusive, and get much better atmospheres than Wembley also.

I suspect us being perennially 18th in the championship is a greater challenge than our ability to draw 50k crowds

That is part of the problem though, we probably won't get as much as we put in and once a private company/individual owns it I imagine the ticket prices will only be going up.

On the other hand, we wouldn't need to play games there to make it worthwhile, and the increased competition available by touring the country could force prices down? Maybe?

Would force prices down for England games elsewhere, yes, I meant more that every other event/game remaining at Wembley will be at the mercy of the owners whims.

Wasn't the old Wembley privately owned aswell ?

As long as the FA give the tax payers money back then I don't see it as an issue

The old Wembley was owned by a private company called Wembley Stadium Ltd since 1923. The old stadium was then purchased by the F A using National Lottery money. If they pay this back then they will have to have cheaper wine when they have dinners for their 93 members. 'Unheard of Major', 'Your right,Colonel' mustn't happen'.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

I worked for The F.A. when Wembley was rebuilt, and England toured the country. The F.A. also at the time had some regional meetings with supporters (members of the England fan Club at the time) around the country.

My view, and the feeling I got, was that most people preferred the England on Tour version option (maybe not as much if you were London based). Atmosphere was good, stadiums always full. I'd prefer some games around the country each year which gives more people the opportunity to go, and as I said I think makes for a better atmosphere.

Whilst The F.A. Cup is not what is used to be, I'd much prefer if we went back to semi-finals at Old Trafford etc (many stadiums now have bigger capacities than before) with only the Final at Wembley - though this always caused issues with allocations to clubs not being enough, which is the advantage of having them at Wembley, as well as the extra revenue which is the real reason they are there.

The F.A. is a not for profit organisation, so money raised is aimed to go back into grass roots football - in that respect selling the stadium probably makes sense but I guess they need some sort of 10/20 year plan to project revenues profits etc based on owning the stadium or not.

I should add I was in a junior position for most of it!

Poll: Will we stay up?

Most of the semi-finals aren’t sold out these days anyway. The usual suspects fans can’t be bothered to pay for a semi-final ticket against a side they’re virtually guaranteed to beat anyway. They save their money for the final.
