Manning today on 21:16 - Apr 19 with 3786 views | Pikey | Actually I quite like the kud but he was poor today . No left back butvtgats nof hus fault. Freeman was anonymous and Cousins very very poor before his injury. If ths rumours that Bristol city are after lumley are true I think reluctantly I'd let him go.
Manning today on 21:33 - Apr 19 with 3720 views | kingo | I thought he had a bad game today, Blackburn kept men wide and he didn’t pick his man up. In fairness no one played well though.

Manning today on 22:30 - Apr 19 with 3527 views | 1MoreBrightonR | He got beat constantly today. I think there is a good little player in him but it was a good reminder that he may not be our future left back. He's a midfielder first and foremost and he struggled to cope today at left back.
Manning today on 22:39 - Apr 19 with 3491 views | Hastings_Hoops | I have to agree with the OP. I left the match thinking he did really well today - a couple of tackles which Bidwell wouldn't have won and a few nice step-overs which showed his quality on the ball. It's stange how we all have a different take on things!

"A couple if tackles which Bidwell wouldn't have won"... bit difficult sitting in the directors box. [Post edited 19 Apr 2019 22:51]

Manning today on 22:56 - Apr 19 with 3414 views | davman | Not a lot of help from what was in front of him today and, as a result, he couldn't cope with Armstrong waiting out wide time and again. They knew that he was a novice LB and targeted him early on. A lot to learn in that position, although I can see him grow into it given time. We seemed very lightweight everywhere today, particularly in that Midfield. We need a big old unit who can keep hold of possession and protect that back four. The effort was there from everyone, but we were bettered all across the pitch.

Blackburn clearly targeted his flank. Armstrong had a field day and dack was overloading on that flank, particularly in the first half I wouldn’t say manning played poorly but Blackburn had a lot of joy down that side He did do well going forward tho | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Manning today on 09:53 - Apr 20 with 2784 views | francisbowles | Agree about Luongo, BOS good but his finishing is terrible. Manning caught out of position several times, with little help from Lynch or BOS in front of him, and had no chance of catching a speedy winger. On the plus side he can thread the eye of a needle with that left foot and is a good combative player when the ball is to be won in front of him. Think the left defensive midfield role in a 4231 suits him best. The old Ale Faurlin position.
Manning today on 10:24 - Apr 20 with 2729 views | bosh67 | Manning is stepping in to do a job at left back. We are lucky to have someone with a left foot able to do that. For me he is an attacking central midfielder or a left winger (which is where he started) all day long. We have to bring him through properly next season. He has vision going forward and is one of the few players who can slip a forward in through the channels. Perhaps the only squad player we have who can, given the chance, do that.

Exactly right. Plus was given no protection by the inexperienced BOS and had to play alongside Lynch. Not easy for anyone, especially somebody playing out of position.

No criticism from me Blackburn had 2 v 1 on him over and over again. The vastly over rated Samual does not do defending and Luongo and Lynch could not be less bothered to cover the hole

Agree. I don't see him as a left back. Neither would I pick him ahead of Scowen, Luongo or Freeman. Yet. But he has it in him to break through.

Agree with this completely. Neither does he push left to help when needed. I don't know how Bidwell doesn't kill him.

Wasn't there, so can't form a judgement, but I was wondering how much could be read into any defensive performance with such a makeshift back 4.
Manning today on 23:29 - Apr 20 with 2136 views | CliveWilsonSaid | He's not been a massive improvement on Bidwell. He's not the same sort of player as Bidwell. He's not been much, if any worse than Bidwell. I've never seen Bidwell do that reverse legged crossing the ball thing. He deserves a start against Derby.

Manning today on 09:40 - Apr 21 with 1926 views | francisbowles | I still think you need pace to play left back and, seeing his efforts to get back when caught upfield or when a ball is played in behind him, I haven't seen any evidence he has any. It would be interesting to see who would win a 35 yard sprint between Ryan and posh Matt!

To be fair had Manning's rabona cross been volleyed in it would have been goal of the season. Even a defeat wouldn't have felt so bad. Stunning but of skill.

Yes, everyone is saying the players are stupid so it was good to see something a bit different.

Think Manning did better today because Eustace switched"wingers"moving Freeman to the left side to help Manning out, especially defensively. It worked well, and Manning got some good balls in 1st half. Moving BOS to the right side wasn't so good, as he was pretty quiet until late on.
