Won 2-0 with a great goal by Jan Mlakar first half and Matt Smith got the second in the second half. From the off, Mlakar was showing some lovely touches, making some really good runs and was combining really well with both Chair and Smith. Chair was the best player on the pitch and ran the show. In one such move, Chair fed Mlakar who made his run at the right time and lifted it past the keeper when one on one. For the last ten minutes of the first half appeared to be struggling with a knock and was replaced on 44 by Duke- McKenna. For about the fifth game on the trot we havnt had a forward on the bench, meanwhile Charley Kendall is not even in the u23 squad. With Shodipo and Dalling on the wings we were a threat going forward but Colchester also had quite a few long range efforts first half. Dillon Barnes was excellent in goal making at least 5 really decent saves. A good all round performance saw us score a second when Matt Smith received the ball in the box, turned a defender and smashed it in from a very acute angle. So much so it didn't seem he could score as he was almost on the byline. The whole back 4 had an average age of about 19 and played really well as a unit. Very nice to see a clean sheet and a welcome win as the last two home games we deserved draws. | | | |

I know he had a bad injury that kept him out for aboout 6 months. But the lad scored for fun in the U18s |  |
