On paper, given his record, you wouldn't have thought so but he never seemed a good fit for them from the off. The days of consistent top 4 finishes and Champions League football under Wenger must seem a long time ago to Arsenal's fans.

I do find it amusing after all their whingeing about Wenger and how he never got them higher than fourth, that they’re now in 8th spot, eight points adrift of the CL places and below Wolves, Burnley and Sheffield United.

Indeed but even Wengers reign had tailed off away from the Top Four by the time he decided to walk away. For some reason there is this odd ingrained stubbornness within Arsenal football club from about 2007 onwards that they will only sign wishy washy footballers who are full of w@nky little tricks and flicks but have no metal what so ever. They have been desperate for a club leader for over a decade and yet they sign helmets like Xhaka and David Luiz and wonder why their midfield and defence is about as dominant as a fart in the wind. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

They've had no proper spine in that team for ages. In all that time they've never adequately replaced Sol Campbell, Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry who all left Arsenal within about 18 months of each other.

Completely agree. If I was them I'd try absolutely everything to get Simeone in. I think he's coming to the end of an era at Atletico and I would tell him that he'll get full cooperation in building Arsenal into a proper team and a proper club again. He'd sort out those weak-ass players.

Your ground is called the library A You're not supporting your current players B You're not attracting players with the right character, with a name like that You keep moaning, I'll keep laughing
