I'm not a musician, but I took up guitar about 6 years ago when I was 53. I love playing,(although the family maybe not so keen). There is something about being able to make a sound that approximates something you have heard, that makes it worthwhile. I would recommend investing time with a guitar teacher to get you to understand some of the basics, at least to start with. I am still having lessons every other week or so and, whilst any improvements are fractional, they are enjoyable.
I think the key is to understand that the best players have probably been playing many many hours a day since they were very young to get to their level of playing. To expect yourself to be at or even close to that level after a relaitively short space of time is unrealistic and could be demoralising. Suggest setting small targets and be pleased when you get there.
It's the best thing I 've done and is great to be able to divert you from other stresses in the world (especially QPR related). |

I managed to get a couple of tickets to the game yesterday and accepted it just to see Eze score. It was a strange experience in the Palace end, not feeling anything in such a big match. No investment at all, a bit dislocated from the action.
When Eze scored I celebrated as hard as anyone else.
What I loved most about the day was the absolute pure raw emotion of the Palace fans round us at the final whistle. In particular a 60 year old grey haired man in tears. No matter your feelings towards Palace (and I have no issues with them), it was great to see and gives me hope for the game.

Spain definitely deserved winners, I just wish we would not play with the handbrake on for 80 mins of each game. I think it was Shearer who said last night that England are a 'team of moments'. Couldn't agree more, but this is never going to be enough to win tournaments.
Somehow the team need to change their mindset and approach, whether that is a manager issue or a deeper psyhcological one I don't know? |

Best gig, Squeeze at Kentish Town Forum (mid - late 90s?). Paul Carrick was with group at time, also the Stones at Parc des Prince in about’89.
Worst, hands down, Level 42 at Hammersmith Apollo mid 90s. Could not tell when one song stared and another finished. |

I’va always thought there should be highlights package every Saturday showing all the diving and cheating going on. A panel could then take the piss out of them. Jack Dee would be a great host!
Bet some of the acting would stop as well. |
