I watched the recording of the game on the QPR web site, and I must confess that I was not over-impressed with our performance, though it was much better than the dire shift put in by Ipswich. Sterner tests will face us, and we need to be a lot better. That said, most teams in the Championship play a version of "rock, paper, scissors" all season, with good wins followed by embarrassing defeats by teams that, on paper, should be easy meat. As a QPR fan, I have learnt to be an optimist, otherwise I'd have stopped going to matches years ago, and have hopes slightly higher than usual for tonight's game against the Owls. Let's see if I am right! :-) |

Robinson was completely unmarked for both his goals. I'm not sure who should have been on him (Furlong? Baptiste?), but whoever it was, they weren't. Also, there was far too much lumping the ball up the field to a Preston head. I was going to get a Brentford ticket, but I'm not sure I can be *rsed now. |

When the aforementioned scumbags threaten the staging of the first weekend of the premiership, I think you have every right to sound off about them (they have already put paid to Spurs' game).
(And they are scumbags, or - as one owner of a trashed shop put it - "feral rats". Out for a laugh, out for what they can get, showing no respect, or feeling the world owes them something.) |

Yes, we won; yes we made it look easy. However, it would have been a different story against a premiership team - who we aspire to play against. I love the R's but would have much preferred them to "go for the jugular" as Dixiedean said. I was at the Bristol City match and know how "comfortable dominance" with only a one goal lead can result in two points dropped. Yes Adel is top scorer and top in assists, but I would like to see more attacks that don't involve him slowing everything down with his "Riverdancing". We're a bit too predictable, and need to inject a few more "lightning raids" into our routine.
Sorry, this isn't meant to be a whinge, but with our central defenders "wobbling" and being capable of being match losers in the last few weeks, we need to turn all our pretty play and possession into more goals (as Swansea are discovering about their own tactics). |

Great report, and I couldn't agree more.
I don't think I've seen a game this season where our center backs had less success. Aside from missing out on many of the high balls, Gorkss also made some shocking passess that went to Forest players. That said, Forest are a good side, and I'm not sure that the lads will be tested this sternly by many others in the next 15 games. |

The "Fishwick" stand the Rangers fans had to use was a complete dump: more bare metal than paint, holes in the roof leaking rain over dozens of the Dickensian "Dotheboys School" wooden seats, and the bars and bogs in an area like a bombshelter or underground loading bay.
Burnley played for a point. They kept 11 men behind the ball for most of the match, and only really threatened from set-pieces. QPR were much the better side, but toothless - especially in conditions that made it hard to play decent football. The chant "We're wet, we're cold, we want a ***ing goal" sums up the match for me. |

Excellent report, as usual!
I thought Reading had a lot of play in the first half, winning loads of throws, corners and free-kicks. In the second-half, however, aside from the first few minutes, they were bereft of ideas. Sitting in C-block, I heard Orr's tackle more than saw it, and it certainly sounded nasty. The video shows that it was a head-on collision, but not deserving off a sending off.
Incidentally, Hulse's "clash of heads" right at the start was definitely an elbow. But, Hey! This is a man's game, and the first ten minutes of most matches sees both sides "tenderising" the opposition in an attempt to show their marker/markee who is "the man".
Good goal by Reading, but apart from that Kenny only had to pull off one or two saves, as the outfield players defused most attacks before they were anywhere near the penalty box.
