 | News Comment | Same old problems leave QPR with just a point at Bolton - Report at 17:54:31
Luongo dived. Who was it shot just wide as everyone else was protesting? I don't agree that Washington added little. As soon as he came on, he was picking up the ball in our half and crossing the half way line with it, making a change from deep-lying midfielders hitting long hopeful balls after we'd passed it around on the edge of our area for a while. You'd hope that an attacking substitute would do a lot more in the box than he did, but the fact that we had decent possession in their half, which allowed Pawel to come forward and threaten coming around the back, was largely down to the link work that Washington introduced. How we laughed at the rain. Until it was time to go outside at the end. It's also fair to say that second half was very entertaining, despite being short of quality. |

I'm relieved to hear there are still natives in Eastbourne. I feared they had all been hunted to extinction. The Brentford ground development depended on (I think) 9 blocks of flats going up. In view of the carnage in the value of housebuilders before and after the referendum I imagine the sums have got more difficult, hence the sale of players and the closure of the academy. |

I remember Richard Osman praising Fulham's recruitment of the Players-of-the Season from five other Championship clubs in the summer. Cairney looks to be doing well, less so Ream, Stearman, Pringle and O'Hara. |

Not shipping 5 as often as they were under Symons, sadly. They look to be on the same path as us under Jimmy, if a few weeks behind. Start by becoming hard to beat, think about scoring goals later. Won't be the stuffing we owe them so badly. Ah well, should be a good atmosphere in the stands, even if not on the pitch. |

I amazed to read we had so many chances at Highbury. All I can remember was that the game was terrible and seemed to last forever after the goal. I've never booed one of our own players (Mark Hateley doesn't count), and I could see big George always tried his heart out, but I'm not sure what was the worse combination. The Mind-numbingly sterile midfield partnership of Santos and Bircham or the bollock-witheringly terrifying pairing of Santos and Rehman at the back? |

On the Hughes substitution, with his boarding school experience he was sent to warm the toilet seats in the Derby dressing room. |

Yes it was exciting and a great atmosphere, but I thought we were poor and thoughtless in the second half and very lucky to emerge with a point. Left-wing corners inswinging corners from Krancjar were our prime attacking tactic in the first half, but did we have even one in the second half? Rather than playing Traore in we were knocking the ball long, and Burnley were happy to see Hoilett get lots of possession on the other side. Still, we're three points ahead of a good Burnley side, Barton was excellent, Doyle is an instant hit, and BAE gave a superb impression of Zesh Rehman to entertain us all. |

qprninja - I think it was Sheffield United in about 1993 - van Basten couldn't have done better. We still lost though. I remember him scoring a similar goal in a League Cup game at Bury about the same time...showing off because my brother lived around the corner from Gigg Lane. |

Like you, I never rated him in part because of the way he looked, more dog-on-a-string than midfield terrier. However, in the DeCanio era I watched a home game against Palace with a friend who supports them, and he told me to just focus on Derry and note what he did. Just three weeks before, we had played Palace off the pitch at Selhurst until conceding a late equaliser. In the return game, Derry totally smothered Akos, and though he never seemed to run or pass further than 5 metres, he knitted their play together from one end to another. I was a convert, and was delighted we bought him. |

Warren Neill in the last minute of extra time in a 3rd round replay at old Ayresome Park, kicked off our 1982 cup run. More memorable surely, but you might struggle to find anyone who was there. |
