Splitting the Forum?
at 21:21 25 Jul 2026

I don't come on here much due to clutter and verbosity. I missed a match thread once cos it was headed by what seemed to be a clue to The Times crossword rather than something succinct like QPR v Watford, Match Thread.
I'm not sure splitting the forum into QPR and NonQPR bits would work? Might sort out the clutter a tiny bit but the forum vernacular would still be there to undermine everything. May as well just leave it as is.

QPR complete much-needed overhaul of goalkeeping position – Signing
at 21:57 13 Jul 2026

I'm not understanding the optimism?

Charles is a kid who looked dodgy to me when he visited LR and a Scottish keeper (I could just stop there really) who appears to already be a journeyman despite his relatively young age for a keeper.

I'm not really minded to regard the goal keeping position as being nicely boxed off quite just yet - I want to see them in action first. It's just a few weeks to playing Wall, so should quickly find out who the 1st choice is and if they are made of the right stuff.

3 albums without a bad track on them
at 17:29 7 Jul 2026

Track 5, side 6 of Sandinista is a VERY bad track indeed. In fairness to those kids, the album had gone to pot well before they pipe up.

Sobering footnote: Those kids must be nudging 50yrs old now

Most pathetic things seen or heard on a football pitch
at 16:17 22 Jun 2026

Not sure Barton's antics come anywhere near a grown man collapsing and holding his face in agony after an opponent's hand brushes his midriff? I find all "simulation" embarrassingly pathetic, I even find the act of "inviting contact" to buy a free-kick distasteful but accept some level of gamesmanship will be inevitable. BUT, feigning an injury to an untouched bodily part is beyond pathetic. My stance is hardened by the modern rule of stopping the game for any head injury but instead of players respecting the gravity of the situation they've grasped the opportunity to go down holding their heads even more so now.

New Front of Shirt Sponsor
at 19:37 7 Jun 2026

What are you talking about? Stan loved his gambling, NEVER expressed any regrets or remorse about his life-long hobby and certainly wouldn't want YOU tossing his name into this thread overrun with pearl-clutching posts about a firm that lawfully and legally trades in the UK sponsoring our shirt.

Next season's fitness approach

I'm pretty sure I'm correct in saying that at least 50% of our recruits over past 2 to 3 years had known injury issues or had recently experienced a significant injury absence in the season prior to joining us.
Morrison, Poku and Dembeke definitely did and we actually signed Vale whilst he was crocked.
Surely, this is something we need to carefully consider going forwards?

Is there much Southgate in it? I feel I'd like to watch it for an insight into players but I get problems with my mood and blood pressure if I see/hear Sir Gareth at all.

Sinclair Armstrong off to Turkey

Club played a blinder when they shunted Armstrong and Kelman on, didn't do too badly with Dykes either. Recycling the fees for that lot into acquiring Kone and Burrell was a fine piece of wheeling and dealing.

Location, Location and glory hunters

Those Arsenal fans converged on London from all over London, the UK, the world. I'm sure if we won the Premier League, tens of thousands of ex-pat Rs fans would decide to pay homage by spending a day or the weekend on a trip to The Bush and lots of locals with varying levels of affiliation to the club would hang out their windows.
Obviously Arsenal are a massive club with loads of armchair followers and we wouldn't muster a million "fans" for anything. But, in the exact same circumstances I'd guess 50 to 100,00ish would pop out to wave at the bus (and get very very drunk).

Bloody Hot
at 17:53 26 May 2026

Absolute codswallop. Any sensible unbiased scientific/medical examination of the facts would conclude that the very minor diuretic effects of beer are massively outweighed by its rehydration benefits. I would further suggest that the pleasure rush of endorphins derived from a long cold pint of beer are a cure for feeling hot, sticky, uncomfortable and irritable. Drink responsibly. Cover your bonce.

Motion versus progress – Analysis

There's a disconnect between the season's efforts and that analysis... only one of them is thorough, well planned and thought out, consistent and maintains pace and engagement til the end...

Heard on radio that sales are not going well and Austria V Someone tickets have now been discounted heavily by FIFA.

I'm guessing half tickets already sold will have been bought by touts and resellers who will hopefully get burnt and left holding 1000s of tickets and there'll be loadsa empty seats at many games.

BUT... there were loads of half empty stadiums at group games in Euro 96 due to shoddy and pricey ticketing but FA said it was alright cos they had sold all the tickets. So, it's not like we do it right here either.

Are We All Hammers Now..?
at 10:14 19 May 2026

I'd like Hammers to be relegated tonight and Arse crowned Champs.

I like the idea of Sky being forced to get excited about the Battle for 8th ot whatever it is on Sunday.... Can't see there'd be many opportunities to capture a grown man grizzling about missing out on Euro Conference though. Will be annoying if 1st AND relegation are still up for grabs on Super Sunday. Much better if the fates of Arsenal and West Ham are sealed on a Tuesday night without them even playing.

The Labour Party
at 16:27 17 May 2026

True. BUT... they wouldn't be revolting every 5 minutes if they knew it would cause an election. Current situation is ridiculous. Manifestos barely exist and if they do, they get ripped up and abandoned within weeks. Internally changing the leader and presumably the mindset/policy too is just taking the piss out of the electorate.

I know we technically don't vote for a PM, we vote for a party but in reality I think a lot of folks DO vote for the leader, y'know vote for such-and-such colour rosette and get Boris/Nigel/whoever as PM. When the Northern red wall fell, I feel quite certain that dyed in the wool lifelong Labour voters rationalised their "treachery" by viewing it as a vote for the maverick populist Boris and not a vote for the hated Tories.

New FFP rules for Championship from next season

Surely it would be in the interest of all clubs to stop paying agents now? Still baffles me how the current situation arose. Nothing wrong with a player EMPLOYING an agent but they need to pay and fund the shyster too.

Saints charged with spying
at 10:59 15 May 2026

That only makes sense if the fine is equivalent to £100,000,000 (or whatever the Prem prize money is nowadays). Even then, I'm not attracted to Saints be allowed to enjoy a season in the top flight after their scummy antics and attitude to it all.
