We do have to do what generally we're not great at doing - winning the big 6-pointers against teams around us (Birmingham, Sheff Weds, Plymouth). I have confidence that Marti, Xavi and Paul will get us very well prepared but I'm concerned that two of those are at home and our home form has been poor. I think we're going to have to win a couple of the big away games against Swansea, Hull, Coventry to survive and we shouldn't fear them. 6 weeks ago I said that 48 will be enough - I'm revising that to 50 on goal difference. The bums are squeaking!
Was very worried about today’s round of games, we easily could have found ourselves back in the bottom 3 if results hadn’t gone our way. Pretty much as you were with 8 games left and we’re in the 40s (just). 3 wins and a draw or two from the last 8 should do it so for now it’s in our hands. In Marti we trust.
Looking at form over the past 5 games I think Sheff Weds will be fine (they've won 4 out of 5). Blackburn for me are on a bit of a downward spiral as are Plymouth - our away game with them will be massive IMO (hope we have a big allocation for that one). For us, if we win 3 of the last 9 and draw 2 or 3 I think that might just get us over the line but it's going to go right down to the last game vs Leeds at home. I'm hoping they'll already be promoted by then and we can reverse the scoreline from 2011 when we heard before the game that we had no points deduction and were promoted. Crowd on the pitch again if we stay up?
Loving this thread and I'll have to check out Silky's tunes! I lived in Bristol back in the day so was into the usual suspects for a while (Roni Size, Die). Then got into techno but the recent junglist revival is superb. Digging the likes of Tim Reaper, Sherelle and Sully at the moment. And while she's pretty mainstream, Nia Archives is so talented and draws on so many genres.
Agreed on Dunne MoM. Andersen was excellent first half but faded in the second. We lost it in central midfield today, neither Field nor Colback getting forward with purpose. Compare them to Howson for Boro who I thought was excellent, best player on the park.
We played well first half but needed to take one of those half-chances. We started the second half poorly, Boro pressed us higher up the pitch and we sat deep, pissballed about and couldn't break their press. I'd have liked to see Armstrong on rather than Dykes for the out ball. Oh well, we go again I suppose. 4 points from 9 after such a great start to the week a big disappointment. Definitely not good at these 3 game weeks!
Kudos for stepping up Spaceman! Even if we get bummed in the gob you deserve another crack at the West Brom game. As ‘arry might have said, it’s a bonus game innit!
