Personally, I think the Mick Beale loans are the epitome of a average Prem loan.
When it was all going well, they looked like World beaters, as soon as something became difficult we saw players sitting on the grass, tying shoelaces, not feeling 100% up for it.
Niggly injuries etc...
The loans I like are players at the end of a contract hungry to prove something.
Last season RND managed to prove he could play most of a season after a lot of injuries, which worked well for him. Still an average Champ footballer though, presumably on a high Champ wage, so not much use as a perm signing there.
I think the recruitment has been better, arguably last season the success rate was above par |

There are probably a couple of things going on that cause this.
The main culprit is some guidance, known as EBU R128, which is to do with following a consistent loudness of the Television signal.
Stemming from complaints that adverts were significantly louder than the programmes this was introduced.
The guidance is that content shouldn't exceed -23 LUFS over the whole programme.
A cheap and lazy way to adhere to this is to run your content through a filter, this invariably makes the loud parts quieter and the quiet parts louder, as everything is squashed into a smaller dynamic range.
Like everything its a compromise, as that narrow dynamic range helps compression and allows us to put more services on the same transponder for example.
Another issue maybe that the content was made for surround sound and the end user only has stereo, so is losing some of the nuance.
Most of the startup of "smart" tvs seem to be loading that massive programme guide.
In order to remain cheap they actually have less power than the average Raspberry Pi (a cheap computer). I actually remember some old CRT (tube TVs) taking a while to turn on and even turn off, while the cap tries to discharge. |

Three game weeks and shocking officiating might be a nice wake up call.
Don't forget a trip to the Olympic stadium will be most Championship teams cup final.

I think its easy to see who benefits when these numbers are leaked out.
Like with Armstrong and Dykes the maximum number is fed to the press, where the fee might be linked to goals, appearances or promotions etc.
Then when the accounts come in we might see the actual incomings from sales and be able to determine what the club actually realised.
I think with Celar the wording is key and on this occasion we are probably just saving money on wages, so as other have mentioned all the "buying" club are doing is paying the compromise agreement to "release" Celar from his QPR contract, so they can negotiate with him as a free agent.
The clever wording and leak to the press is to make QPR look like they didn't catch a cold signing a player that didn't work out for us.
Personally I'm not sure how damaging it is to admit that a signing didn't work out for whatever reason. No club has a 100% success rating, especially when you are bringing in players who haven't played in England before.
I actually think the club have learned from this and subsequent recruitment, like last season has been largely better.
It sounds a lot to us, but QPR are still shopping in the middle aisle at Aldi, I think the recent exceptions have been Saito, Madsen, Kone and Ronnie, who I think we paid decent money for (still dwarfed by other teams spending, like Wrexham, Birmingham, Southampton et al) |

I think Rooney was saying before the game that he didn't care how we played as long as we got the result.
Then straight after the whistle was fuming because TT tried to park the bus and failed!

I think the Beeb are in a no win there.
Even if they flew a handful of crew and presenters out to region there could be outcry as its essentially our money paying for flights, accommodation etc
Should be major cost savings coming soon as Terrestrial broadcast will move away from using aerials to deliver a signal and large broadcasters don't have to pay for distribution of those video signals, might take a few years though, the change to colour was massive and the analogue to digital was a seven year project in itself...
When everyone is watching an OTT stream it becomes a lot easier for the viewer to choose an alternative commentary for example, or dynamically switch to ref cam or a player ISO etc. [Post edited 15 Jul 16:20]

I understand us changing Kiev recently, to differentiate Ukraine from Russia, but I'm not sure about Tur-key or Tur-key-eh or Ivory Coast to Cote d'ivoire.
Although, we are all happy with Costa Rica, never heard anyone call that place Rich Coast!
