While we are all moaning about the defence it was good to see yet another great set piece goal from a corner with Hall scoring again although the officials gave it as an og. From my angle, and I said this before the ball even got to Hall, he was going to get a free header, such was the blocking and movement of the players to set up the goal.. and of course the delivery from Eze. As with the other goal against Brentford, there was not a defender within a yard of him. Been some time since we have had a goal threat from set plays. Something that has been worked on at training is paying off.
Was there a reason we didn't have any forwards on the subs bench? We brought on Pugh, Smith and BOS all midfielders, Pugh for Wells who was struggling with cramp and had been barged in the back. Was Mlakar injured or out of favour?
Something going on today. Their presence at this game was considered by many to be over the top. However, I think there may have been more to this than meets the eye. Konk may give us news of what it was like at Fulham. However, I am guessing it was as bad as our game. I noted two full police vans heading towards Charlton mid-morning.
A number of fans were trapped by the police and security trying to get into the Ellerslie stand and missed the first goal. One was stoped from entering Y and came into V to watch the first half.
Also, at Lewisham station police were everywhere. There was also a metal detector for everyone to go through. So, something must have been amiss or expected to happen.
Left right after the whistle and noted a number of likely young lads who appeared to be looking for a fight from someone who was to come out of the ground. Also noted the police were heading in that direction rather fast as I headed away. Any news or something quickly diffused?
The term has its official roots through a commentary by Roy & HG of a State of Origin too many years back. According to Wiki, HG also calls it "the Christmas handshake" and "the Nairobi night-time grope."
We are being told that we need to make sure out c/c details are correct if we chose to opt in with the home cup games and update that by next Friday. I am pretty sure I didn't opt in in the first place but should have. I logged in to see if I could find out where to do this or, as they state, how to opt out if I don't want to go to the Bristol City game.
Other than contacting the box office, whom I have just e-mailed, does anyone know how to opt in via the account on the web?
Thought I better get in quickly before anyone accidentally took this. Why? because I commenced the last two match threads where we were on a six game losing streak - Brum and Forest in 2017. Hopefully, this won't be third time unlucky.
We'll be missing Freeman now. How can we win? We will and a good away win at that and do the double over Boro. To the players, those who make the park, this will be a do or die game and for those who make it to the far far reaches of this country, they will get a good game to watch. 2 nil to the good guys! Luongo to score.
I know we are all gutted after the end of last night, but not one word on Smith. He still won a lot of balls in the air and threw himself around and then, out of the blue, he was not coming out in the second half. Was he sick, injured or what? Which brings me to the others - Rangel and Cameron. Why were we told that they would be back in February when there is no sign of them at all and I am wondering if we will see them before mid-March at the earliest? I just hope the injury to Freeman is not that bad. We seem to be the source of our own downfall at present. A combination of playing the same players each game, the need to farm out our youngsters so that they will be ready to come in next season or later and the Cup run that has created a backlog of games has brought about the tiredness and possible injuries that put us in this position. I will say one thing. I am quite impressed that we have a bunch of players who throw everything when on the park and yet survive for so long without injury. Those physios and others in the back rooms working on the players need to be thanked.
While we are awaiting the commencement of our latest bash at "the Cup", Luongo has been selected in the Oz side against Jordan that kicks off at 11am London time. I'll be on the road, but I guess there will be some streams that will show the game.
Some of these oppo's vlogs can be cr*p, but this one is pretty good. Interviews of a few QPR fans at the beginning and a different view of the two goals down the School end. Full credit to the guy to get it out so fast after the game as well.
