Nygaard Returns Home
Nygaard Returns Home
Monday, 28th Jan 2008 12:33

As reported on our message board last week Marc Nygaard has today left QPR and returned home to Denmark.

Nygaard's performances and goals ( including the incredible 30 yard strike against Leicester at the Walkers Stadium) at the latter part of last season, subsequently rewarded him with a one year contract extension for this campaign. However, the Danish striker's contract was today terminated by QPR withimmediate effect.

Marc joined Rangers on a free transfer in July 2005, and is now expected to return to his homeland to sign for Danish Superliga side Randers FC.

Nygaard said: "I've been abroad for 13 years now, and I feel it's a good time to return to Denmark. I never got to play in the SAS League, and I'd really like to try it out. I feel that I still got some good years in me and I'm still ambitious about my career.

"I considered other clubs also, but when I was approached by Randers FC I was no longer in doubt. I got a really good impression of the club through my talks with Jacob Nielsen, Colin Todd and PC.

"I`ve had two and a half fantastic years at Queens Park Rangers, and now with the club on the move forward in English football it's tempting to stay in London. But the time is right for a return to Denmark, and I'd like to show that I can make I difference in Danish football."

Nygaard was probably not everyones cup of tea, but in his 2 and a half years with the R's, made 72 appearances in all competitions and scored 14 goals.

We wish him well for the future!
