LFW Weekend Championship Preview
LFW Weekend Championship Preview

LFW looks ahead to this forthcoming weekend's fixtures in the Coca Cola Championship.

Good Evening All and welcome back to LFW Championship Preview, which comes hot on the heels of a full midweek programme of fixtures and this weekend looks to be as exciting as ever in what many say is the most exciting of the 4 divisions.

There is one TV game selected this weekend as the Sky cameras descend on Deepdale, as 3rd placed Preston take on 2nd place West Brom. This is probably the last game the Baggies would want at the moment following back to back defeats at the hands of Palace at home last Saturday and a 3-1 reverse away at Barnsley midweek. The Baggies have just a good a record away from home as Preston do at their own place, so this has the makings of a decent game.

Leaders Newcastle, who can no longer boast a 100% home record after their midweek draw with QPR, take on Bristol City at St James Park. Although the Robins sit in a respectable 9th place, this is probably the home banker of the weekend in the Championship with City yet to win on their travels. With respect, I can't see that ending here either.

After the midweek results, we have only one team left without a win and even if you didn't know a single result this season, I don't think many would have said that it would be Ipswich, who now prop up the table. The Tractor Boys travel to Barnsley this coming Saturday, who will no doubt be inconfident mood after their midweek efforts against West Brom. Roy Keane's men were seconds away from that illusive victory, but for an injury time goal from Sheffield United's, Chris Morgan, making the score 3-3 midweek. pswich went to the bottom of the league following Plymouth's impressive win away at Peterborough and the first of the season. The 'Green Army' will this week be looking for their first win at home, with Scunthorpe the visitors to Home Park.

Looking around elsewhere and Cardiff put their recent wobbles firmly behind them with a 6-1 home win over Derby on Tuesday night, which lifted them back into the top six. The Bluebirds travel to Watford this Saturday. The Hornets were beaten 3-2 at home by Coventry midweek, in what was their first home defeat of the season, keeping them in mid table. Coventry v Leicester is a lunchtime kick off at the Ricoh with both sides enjoying a pretty decent start to their respective seasons and are both sitting in the top half of the table. There is a Yorkshire Derby at Bramall Lane as 6th placed Sheffield United take on Doncaster, who are yet to record a win away from home this season. LFW's Preview of QPR's trip to Swansea, will be online soon....
